A postdoctoral position is available in the Department of Interventional Radiology to perform research on the use of interventional oncology procedures. Specifically, we are looking for candidates with experience in the field of hepatic loco-regional therapies for the treatment of liver cancers. In particular, the postdoctoral fellow will be responsible for maintaining several ongoing trials databases, assisting in building predictive models for oncological outcomes, reviewing cross-sectional imaging results, performing scientific literature searches, biostatistical analysis, machine-learning training, and writing manuscripts.
The postdoctoral fellow will work under the supervision of Dr. Bruno C. Odisio and Dr. Iwan Paolucci.
The primary research focus will be conducting research using large registry databases of various loco-regional therapies for patients with liver cancer, as well as prospective databases of ongoing clinical trials on liver ablation.
*LEARNING OBJECTIVES*
The recruiting postdoctoral fellow will conduct research in the following projects:
1. Predictors of tumor recurrence following loco-regional hepatic therapies. Mentor's main research goal is to understand predictors of success of loco-regional therapies accordingly to radiomics, molecular, advanced imaging guidance, and tumor characteristics.
2. Outcomes following thermal liver ablation. Mentor's main research goal is to report the outcomes of novel methodologies utilized during ablation procedures to improve outcomes.
*ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS*
An individual holding or soon to be obtained Ph.D. or MD, or equivalent doctorate in an appropriate field, who is seeking a temporary appointment, under the supervision of a faculty mentor, involving full-time laboratory-based research or scholarship in preparation for an academic or research career as an independent investigator.
This appointment is not part of a clinical training program; individuals holding an M.D. degree or equivalent are not permitted to engage in patient care activity.
