    Museum Visitor Services Associate

    Required Qualifications (as evidenced by an attached resume):

    High School Diploma/G.E.D. (foreign equivalent or higher). One (1) year of full-time professional experience in a gallery or museum setting. Ability to be on-site in East Hampton for 4 days per week from May - October.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    Bachelor’s degree (foreign equivalent or higher) in art history, fine art, or a related field. Five (5) years of full-time professional experience in a gallery or museum setting. Professional experience in visitor services and/or hospitality. Knowledge of the work of Jackson Pollock and Lee Krasner and the period in which they worked.

    Brief Description of Duties:

    The Museum Visitor Services Associate is a part-time position at the Pollock-Krasner House and Study Center. The successful candidate will manage or support most public-facing aspects of museum operations such as our welcome desk, gift shop, and public tours. They will also be responsible for managing volunteers and supporting the museum membership program. Primary working hours are Thursday - Sunday, 11 am to 5:30 pm. The Visitor Services Manager will work both independently and collaboratively with other departments to ensure a positive visitor experience, excellent customer service, and highly effective logistics for public participation in exhibitions, programs, and events. This person will work closely with colleagues throughout the institution to help identify and measure key performance indicators to drive visitor satisfaction. Strong interpersonal and organizational skills. Comfortable working closely with the public.

     

    + Delivering tours.

    + Welcome desk management.

    + Designing and developing tours.

    + Routine on-site maintenance.

    + Volunteer training.

    + Other duties as assigned.

    Special Notes:

    The Research Foundation of SUNY is a private educational corporation. Employment is subject to the Research policies and procedures, sponsor guidelines and the availability of funding. FLSA Non Exempt position, eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA.

    Evening and weekend work will be required at times.
