Our team is searching for a Seed Science Operations Agronomist, located at our Seymour, IL Seeds and Traits Research Station, that will specialize in conducting soybean and corn trials that support various Breeding and Trait Development programs within the Illinois region.
This agronomist will ensure that all field trials and analysis are conducted efficiently, while adhering to strict protocols set forth by Breeding and Trait Development project customers. The primary focus will be to establish, maintain, and evaluate field trials for the purpose of delivering high quality data, in support of product advancement.
As a Seed Science Operations Agronomist II, you create chemistry by...
+ Managing small plot soybean and corn research trials with a focus on yield trials and efficacy evaluation.
+ Conducting and coordinating trial activities including trial design/layout, planting, spraying, evaluation, and harvest.
+ Helping manage resources within the assigned location, with the goal of ensuring effective and efficient operations for all assigned Breeding and Trait Development programs. This includes equipment maintenance, inventory management, seasonal staff hiring & supervision, as well as participating in budget planning for the region.
+ Adhering to stewardship, regulatory, quality, and safety compliance guidelines, policies, and procedures. This includes documentation, record keeping, data management, trial management, periodic trainings, audits, etc…
+ Participate in the local EHS program to ensure all activities are being performed safely and responsibly. This will include helping with training of new employees and contributing to the safety culture within the team.
+ Working independently as well as in a team either as a member or supervising contract employees as needed to fulfill job responsibilities.
If you...
+ Possess M.S. in Biological Sciences, including Plant Pathology, Weed Science, Agronomy, or related field.
+ Possess B.S. in Agronomy related field, including Crop Science, Weed Science, Agronomy, Crop Systems or related field in addition to 2 years of relevant experience.
+ Have experience coordinating and conducting corn or soybean small plot research trials.
+ Are proficient using agriculture research equipment and data collection tools including tractors, planters, sprayers, UAS, and combine harvesters.
+ Have FAA Part 107 license and Pesticide Applicators License or ability to obtain.
+ Having a CDL is an asset.
+ Able to travel up to 10%, domestically.

Pay transparency
BASF is committed to pay transparency practices. The competitive Pay Range for this role is $75,200 - $103,400. Actual pay will be determined based on education, certifications, experience, and other job-related factors permitted by law.
