Job Title: Hardware Architect

Job Description

As the design authority for all Mission System products, including CMA-5000, VPU-3000, PU-3000, and CMA-2041 (MFD), you will oversee hardware estimates from the Core Hardware group for new programs. You will collaborate with product architects and business development managers to comprehend customer requests for proposals and distribute requirements to functional groups. It is crucial to ensure that hardware architecture aligns with the platform architect and that products conform to the platform reference design to minimize cost and schedule. You will be responsible for the HW OEDP, which describes the technical solution across hardware, AEH, mechanical, electrical disciplines, and more.

Responsibilities

+ Serve as the design authority for Mission System products.

+ Manage hardware estimates for new programs.

+ Collaborate with product architects and business development managers to understand customer requirements.

+ Ensure alignment of hardware architecture with platform reference design.

+ Develop Hardware OEDP describing the technical solution.

+ Work with AEH, Mechanical, ECAD, Electrical, HQE, test Engineering, and Airworthiness teams.

+ Capture estimates using proven templates for LRU development.

+ Provide technical guidance as the design authority to designers.

+ Define product roadmaps for next-generation products with platform architects and product managers.

+ Support customer pursuits by creating technical proposals.

+ Review customer statements of work and ensure design meets requirements.

+ Conduct trade-off studies on advanced avionics system architectures.

+ Stay updated on the state-of-the-art in avionics systems.

Essential Skills

+ Bachelor’s degree in computer or electrical engineering, or related technical field.

+ Minimum of 7 years of relevant technical experience in the aerospace industry.

+ Extensive knowledge of Mission Computers and civil and military markets.

+ Experience in product ownership and managing an engineering team of at least 10 people.

+ Customer-facing experience in the aviation industry.

+ Basic understanding of aviation manufacturing processes.

+ Proven ability to forecast market and technology trends.

+ Exposure to various engineering disciplines such as electronics, software, firmware, and mechanical.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

+ Familiarity with ISO/IEC/IEEE System Engineering process is an asset.

+ Understanding of Airworthiness standards such as DO-178, DO-254, DO-160, MIL-STD.

+ Eligibility for Canadian Controlled Goods Program and NATO Secret security clearance.

+ Experience in requirements capture and management using DOORS or equivalent.

+ Knowledge of civil and/or military specification standards and practices: ARP4754, ARP4761, DO-178, DO-254, DO-297.

+ Experience with avionics systems such as Display Systems, FMS, GPS, TAWS, WXR, SVS, Audio Systems, Moving map.

+ Working knowledge of FAA TSO, FARs, and related regulations and procedures.

+ Certification FAR PART 23/25 related experience is an advantage.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $60.00 - $76.00/hr.
