Job Title: Engineer
Job Description
The position involves developing mechanical and electromechanical products, particularly PLC-based controls, by studying customer requirements, researching, and testing manufacturing and assembly methods and materials. The role requires interaction with operators to solicit observations and analyze customer needs to design, test, and develop programs that meet those needs.
Responsibilities
+ Develop mechanical and electromechanical products by studying customer requirements and testing manufacturing and assembly methods.
+ Analyze customer needs to design, test, and develop programs.
+ Understand PLC programming ladder logic and all aspects of system inputs and outputs.
+ Program HMI and ensure its interaction with PLC.
+ Troubleshoot to ensure machines run efficiently.
+ Learn new techniques and technologies as they are discovered.
+ Instruct team members and customers on proper control procedures.
+ Design control panel layout and wiring schematic.
+ Program PLC and HMI across major brands.
+ Develop manufacturing processes by modifying equipment for fabrication, assembly, and installation.
+ Collaborate with the manufacturing team to ensure timely equipment build.
+ Ensure system and product quality by designing testing methods and confirming fabrication processes.
+ Complete projects by training and guiding technicians and plant personnel.
+ Develop new products and improve existing ones.
+ Prepare, schedule, coordinate, and monitor assigned engineering projects.
+ Interact with clients to interpret needs and represent them in the field.
+ Perform quality control of work including budget, schedule, and plans.
+ Report regularly on project status.
+ Cooperate and communicate effectively with team members for technical support.
Essential Skills
+ At least 5 years of relevant engineering experience.
+ BS degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent field.
+ Expertise in design and visualization software such as Inventor and AutoCAD.
+ Proficiency in PLC programming including Ladder Logic, Function Block Diagrams, and Structured Text.
+ Knowledge of Siemens LOGO, Connected Components Workbench, and Studio 5000.
+ Advanced MS Office skills.
+ Familiarity with rules, regulations, best practices, sanitary design, and performance standards.
+ Ability to work on multiple discipline projects.
+ Project management and supervision skills.
+ Leadership skills and decision-making ability.
+ Time management and organizational skills.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Chemical xp is nice to have.
+ Drafting/designing xp with Inventor and AutoCAD.
+ Experience with control panels, drilling holes, mounting, and wiring components.
Work Environment
The role involves working in food processing plant environments when not at the physical office. The position offers a small team environment in a family-oriented company with ample growth potential, as they are expanding the controls team. The role may require lifting up to 75 pounds, operating equipment, walking across plant environments, and occasional travel to customer locations.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $40.00/hr.
