Job Title: Coating Operator
Job Description
The coating technician plays a critical role in the electrode manufacturing process, creating high-quality anode and cathode electrodes that are essential to battery performance. This position requires dexterity and attention to detail as the technician will oversee the electrode coating processes. Responsibilities include machine start-up, loading machines with coating mixtures, troubleshooting process issues, conducting in-process quality checks, ensuring finished product quality, and documenting all aspects of the process. The technician will eventually become a subject matter expert in the roll-to-roll process of slot die coating.
Responsibilities
+ Understand process capabilities through design of experiments and data analysis.
+ Develop and optimize process conditions for new materials, recipes, and design.
+ Lead new process development from validation at pilot scales to scale-up in mass production.
+ Drive a multi-functional team to solve technically complex problems using first-principle and data-driven methodologies.
Essential Skills
+ Machine operating experience in a manufacturing environment.
+ Experience troubleshooting automated machines.
+ Responsibility for in-process and finished product quality in manufacturing.
+ Ability to stand on feet all day.
+ Steel-toed shoes.
+ Ability to lift 50lbs as needed and bend, squat, lift as required in a manufacturing setting.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Experience operating mechanical slitter, calender, coater, or punching equipment.

Work Environment
The work environment is very clean to meet battery manufacturing standards, with the coating area being the most challenging due to the materials used. Despite this, it remains a clean space. The facility is temperature-controlled, maintaining approximately 75 degrees in warmer areas during summer months. Employees work on the 1st shift, Monday through Friday, from 8 am to 4 pm.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Indianapolis, Indiana.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $21.00 - $24.00/hr.
