General Laborer Paying up to 20/hr

Job Description

As a General Laborer, you will play a crucial role in the safe and efficient unloading of inbound materials from rail cars. You will be responsible for connecting conveyor systems to containers for unloading raw materials used in concrete production, transporting these materials to silos for storage, and ensuring the accuracy of the materials by checking receipt labels. The role requires regularly handling heavy materials, with weights up to 70–75 lbs, in physically demanding and often hot and dirty environments, all while adhering to safety protocols.

Responsibilities

+ Offload inbound materials from rail cars safely and efficiently.

+ Connect conveyor systems to containers for unloading raw materials used in concrete production.

+ Transport raw materials to silos for storage.

+ Check receipts of labels when unloading and transporting materials.

+ Handle heavy materials regularly, lifting up to 70–75 lbs multiple times within short intervals.

+ Work comfortably in physically demanding conditions, including hot and dirty environments.

+ Ensure adherence to safety protocols while performing unloading and transportation tasks.

Work Environment

The work environment is at a cement supplier facility that is very hot and outdated, with continuous exposure to extreme heat, cold, noise, and outdoor conditions. Protective equipment is mandatory while on site. You will be part of a small team of 2-3 people, working collaboratively to meet production goals. The dress code requires long pants, a t-shirt, and steel-toed shoes. The position offers a 1st shift from 7am-3pm/4pm and a 3rd shift, which includes training on the day shift. Candidates may be required to work overtime, with an average of 10 hours per week, potentially up to 30 hours during peak season.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $20.00/hr.
