WHO WE ARE
We are the Metropolitan Council, the regional government for the seven-county Twin Cities metropolitan area. We plan 30 years ahead for the future of the metropolitan area and provide regional transportation, wastewater, and housing services. More information about us on our website.
We are committed to supporting a diverse workforce that reflects the communities we serve.
Metro Transit is one of the country's largest transit systems, employs more than 3,000 people, and prior to COVID provided more than 80 million rides a year through an integrated network of buses, light rail and commuter trains, as well as resources for those who carpool, vanpool, walk or bike in the Twin Cities.
How your work would contribute to our organization and the Twin Cities region
This Business Systems Analyst 2 role presents a dynamic opportunity to significantly contribute to Metro Transit's operational efficiency during a key technological evolution. Initially, you will leverage your analytical skills to provide robust support for our existing legacy ERP system as it undergoes a planned decommissioning and retirement. Over the subsequent 2-3 years, your focus will strategically transition to the implementation and support of a new Council-wide Asset Management system (HxGN). Upon full deployment, this role will become an integral part of the Metro Transit Asset Management team, playing a crucial role in optimizing and ensuring the effective utilization of these critical tools. This position offers a unique platform to apply and expand your expertise in both legacy system management and modern enterprise asset management solutions.
What you would do in this job
+ This role will work closely with the lead Business Systems Analyst and will take work direction from them but will also have the opportunity and expectation to work independently as tasks dictate.

+ Managing user access, security roles, and complex user setups.
+ Overseeing and performing system configurations and modifications to meet evolving business needs.
+ Analyzing and resolving complex data integrity issues and developing reports.
+ Developing and maintaining comprehensive user documentation and system support guides.
+ Assist in troubleshooting efforts for complex issues within the legacy ERP system, performing root cause analysis and collaborating with senior technical staff and vendors to design, test, and implement lasting solutions.
+ Play a role in the planning, design, and implementation activities for the transition to the new HxGN asset management system. This includes:
+ Participating in system design and configuration workshops.
+ Assisting with data mapping, validation, and migration strategies.
+ Act as a liaison between department end-users, technical analysts, IT, and vendors for both the legacy ERP and the new asset management system. Clearly articulate business needs and translate them into technical requirements and vice-versa.
+ Analyze existing business processes and workflows related to procurement, finance, inventory, asset, and maintenance management; identify areas for improvement and recommend solutions in the context of both current and future systems.
+ Contribute to defining the future state of asset management system use at Metro Transit, ensuring alignment with business objectives.
+ Develop, coordinate, and implement comprehensive test plans for business and functional processes during system development, upgrades, and quality assurance testing for both systems.
+ Participate in smaller projects or defined workstreams within the larger ERP retirement and asset management implementation initiatives.
+ Perform other related analytical and system support duties as assigned.
