Position Summary
Position is under limited supervision and performs a variety of tasks. Incumbent in this position is tasked with accepting all Pro Se filings. Incumbent will collect court fines and fees, including traffic tickets, child support and bonds. Incumbent must be able to work in multiple systems and multi-task simultaneously. Incumbent needs to exercise authority in the absence of supervision or standard operating policies and procedures. Must be able to master all job duties for Deputy I and Deputy II and have experience and proficient knowledge of court procedures to be successful in this role.

The Marion County Clerk is the custodian of all court records, serves as the court’s fiscal agent, trustee of child support payments, and issues marriage licenses.

Position Responsibilities
+ Process protective orders, new civil cases, divorce, subsequent flings, name and gender change, specialized driving privileges, expungements, paternity, guardianship, estates and other miscellaneous filings.
+ Collect court fines and fees, including traffic tickets, child support and bonds. Ensure you are properly informed of the legal regulations that govern a specific activity and adhere to rules, policies and laws.
+ Knowledge of the procedures of a legal case from opening to closing, such as the documentation that needs to be prepared and handled, the people involved in different stages of the case.
+ Respond to inquiries and requests for information from other agencies and members of the public.
+ Compile and collect documents from a specific case in order to comply with legal regulations and ensuring records are maintained.
+ Knowledge of observe the set of rules establishing the nondisclosure of information except to another authorized person.
+ Records and processes payments for all types of court fees.
+ Must be able to multi-task and have time management skills.

Qualifications
High School diploma or equivalent and two (2) to four (4) years of previous clerical experience in a court or similar legal setting is required. Must be able to communicate effectively orally, verbally, and in written formats. Attention to detail is a priority. Requires great customer service skills and the ability to promote teamwork and build effective relationships.
Preferred Job Requirements and Qualifications
Clerical experience in a court or similar legal setting.
