Job Description
BAE Systems is seeking an experienced high-level Technician or Mech/Electrical Engineer to support work in the Columbia Class Submarine construction and conduct of the Strategic Weapon System (SWS) test program and Replacement Measurement Program to support integration testing of SWS subsystems. This person will be on-site to support Columbia Class Test Engineering /Shipyard Installation Test Program (SITP) tasks at Groton CT as well as be able to travel to Quonset Point (QP) RI in support of those same tasks as in Groton.
The successful candidate will have the primary task of providing technical support to the conduct of key test procedures and collecting test conduct metrics at the General Dynamics Electric Boat Shipyard or at their Quonset Point facility in Rhode Island. Data collected during test conduct (dockside and/or at-sea) will require analysis to determine compliance with coordinated requirements and operational functions. Test analysis reports, generated upon completion of test procedures, are the vehicle to report weapon system capabilities to the government representatives at Strategic Systems Programs (SSP).
Additional tasks may include investigations and efforts associated with such concepts as:
+ Systems engineering life cycle process
+ Documentation development and distribution
+ Configuration management and change control
+ Subsystem development
+ Facilitate problem resolution of system level weapon system issues
+ Replacement Measurement Program
The candidate will be responsible for working with the Electric Boat shipyard shops/codes and SSP contractor and government personnel to support the successful completion of the Shipyard Installation Test Program (SITP). The candidate must be able to transit on foot in a shipyard environment, negotiate ladders, and carry test items (laptop, cases, cables) throughout the submarine.
Examples of tasks include
+ Attend and participate in planning, status meetings and conferences, and communicate key events and milestones as needed
+ Assist in developing and maintaining Ordnance Documentation and instructions in conjunction with SSP, NAVSEA, SUBMEPP, and contractor organizations
+ Work with Customer to identify needs and concerns and convert needs to definable program / project tasks
+ Act as technical interface with SSP regarding the implementation of the SITP, system level testing and certification for Columbia Strategic Weapons Systems
+ Observe/participate tests applicable to the System Contractor
+ Analyze and write Test Analysis Reports applicable to the System Contractor
Required Education, Experience, & Skills
+ High School Diploma with a minimum of 8 years of experience
+ BS Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or related Sciences with 4 years of experience
+ Highly driven and assertive personality
+ Experience with shipboard or shipyard work with demonstrated capability of operating independently with little oversight to include: ability to climb ladders, move equipment about the entire ship and sustain prolonged standing
+ Proficient in developing weekly status reports and tracking results
+ Proficient with MS Office suite
+ Strong problem-solving skills
+ Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
+ Effective Public Speaking or presenting in from of large groups
+ Excellent interpersonal skills used when interfacing, coordinating, and negotiating with colleagues, auditors, contracting partners, vendors and government representatives
+ Understanding of project managerial relationships and operations.
+ Ability to exercise discernment and independent judgment and make sound decisions while complying with policies, procedures, and regulations.
+ Good planning, time management and organization skills.
Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills
+ BS Degree Engineering or related Sciences with 6 years of experience
+ Experience working with the TRIDENT II SWS in the Navigation, Launcher, or Fire Control systems.
+ Experience with SSBN subsystems, the interfaces, and installation of equipment
+ Understanding of SSP structure and fleet relationships
+ Familiarity with Naval drawings and SWS system equipment technical manuals
Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $77809 - $132275

However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
