Position:
The Wine Director is responsible for curating and overseeing the Paws Up wine program, including menu development, wine purchasing, inventory management, staff education, and guest experiences. This role will elevate the wine program across all dining outlets, private events, and signature culinary events. The ideal candidate is a passionate and knowledgeable wine professional with a deep understanding of hospitality, wine pairing, and luxury guest experiences.

Primary Responsibilities:
+ Curate and manage a comprehensive wine list that complements the Resort’s culinary offerings and seasonal menus.
+ Build and maintain relationships with wineries, distributors, and suppliers to ensure high-quality, diverse selections.
+ Develop and maintain accurate wine inventory and purchasing records.
+ Lead and coordinate wine events, tastings, and pairing dinners for guests.
+ Collaborate with the Executive Chef and Food & Beverage team to create thoughtful wine pairings for menus and events.
+ Train and educate service staff on wine knowledge, service standards, and pairings to enhance guest experience.
+ Stay informed of wine trends, vintages, and regional developments to keep the wine program fresh and engaging.
+ Ensure wine storage, presentation, and service meet luxury standards across all resort venues.
+ Complete scheduled inventories and ensure proper administration processes are followed
+ Collaborate with the Food and Beverage team to create and implement new ideas
+ Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local food sanitation and safety regulations. Be knowledgeable about the most updated laws and guidelines and communicate this information to the staff
+ Responsible for ensuring the service is team is properly trained to deliver exceptional service and to create memorable moments for Member. This will include interactive dining, table-side service, promoting feature or signature items, etc.
+ Create an excellent work environment, centered upon teamwork and mutual respect
+ Ensure Employees are adhering to mandated policies and procedures as outline in the Time Management Policy.
+ Attend all Department Head staff meetings, Food & Beverage meetings, as well as hold weekly service training meetings and special training sessions when needed.
+ Ensures that daily walkthroughs are being conducted in all Front of House areas
Supportive Functions and Responsibilities:
+ Display hospitality and professionalism to our guests and team members at all times, take pride in representing The Resort at Paws Up professionally with our guests and assure that all transactions with guests are handled in a legal, ethical, and confidential manner.
+ Maintain a favorable working relationship with all Resort team members to foster and promote a positive working environment.
+ Maintain a clean and neat appearance at all times.
+ Perform work in a safe and high-quality manner.
Education, Experience, Licensure Required:
+ Minimum 3–5 years of experience as a Wine Director, Sommelier, or similar role in a high-end or luxury hospitality setting.
+ Certification from the Court of Master Sommeliers or equivalent (Advanced or Certified level preferred).
+ Deep knowledge of domestic and international wines, winemaking regions, and food pairings.
+ Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
+ Experience in wine list development, inventory control, and vendor relations.
+ Passion for educating both staff and guests about wine.
+ Ability to thrive in a dynamic, guest-focused environment with high service standards.
+ Advanced knowledge of principles and practices within the Restaurant/Hospitality profession. This includes experience and knowledge required for management of people, complex problems and food and beverage management.
+ Ability to make occasional decisions which are generally guided by established policy and procedures. Supervisory/management communication skills.
+ Current driver’s license with 2 years’ driving experience
