We have a very competitive salary scale that pays higher than most local districts. Our starting salary for a 1st year teacher with no prior experience starts at $45,000, with valid teaching certification and $40,000 if working towards teaching certification. Salary increases with years of prior experience. Will give up to 10 years of prior credit.

This position is for a Middle School Health Teacher

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

+ Design and deliver engaging, standards-aligned lessons that promote student understanding of key health topics such as mental, emotional and social health, nutrition, personal hygiene, substance abuse prevention, and sexual health (age appropriate aligned with state requirements)

+ Implement curriculum that is culturally inclusive and in a safe and supportive learning environment where ALL students feel valued.

+ Promote healthy lifestyle habits, healthy relationships and health-literacy for all students.

+ Provide programs and services that develop essential attitudes, knowledge and skills for student to make healthy and informed decisions.

+ Organize program coordination with staff, parents/caregivers and community resources.

+ Use a variety of instructional strategies to accommodate diverse learning styles and abilities.

+ Implement classroom management strategies that support a safe, inclusive, and respectful learning environment.

+ Integrate culturally responsive and trauma-informed practices.

+ Assess student progress through both formative and summative assessments.

+ Collaborate with school counselors, physical education teachers, and administrators to support whole-child wellness.

+ Communicate effectively with parents and guardians regarding student progress and health education topics.

+ Maintain accurate records in compliance with school, state, and federal policies.

+ Other duties as assigned by the Head of School.

Education and/or Experience

+ Teachers/educators must hold a NYS professional teaching certificate or be eligible for reciprocity to include (1) Minimum Bachelor's degree in subject area to be taught, Master's Degree preferred; (2) Proven track-record of high achievement in the classroom and commitment to accountability preferred ; (3) Belief in and alignment with REACH Academy Charter School core beliefs and educational philosophy; (4) Valid New York State Certification, except in cases where the Head of School shall make an exception under the terms of this Policy, in compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.

Salary

REACH Academy Charter School has a salary scale in place. Your salary step will depend on your prior years of experience and certification. A first-year teacher with no experience but has their certification will start at $45,000. A teacher on step 10 which is the most prior credit we can give is $65,830.
