    Role Definition

    The Senior Manager, Supply Chain manages a team that oversees the order to delivery supply chain to ensure availability of necessary commodities to support manufacturing or distribution. Develops, implements, and manages supply chain strategies and manages material plans for production packaging processes and Gen Sets at Lafayette Engine Facility.

    Responsibilities

    + Maintaining communications with operations, procurement, logistics, quality, engineering and distribution. Creating integrated processes to streamline and execute Lean material plan.

    + Interacting with sales, engineering, and facilities management on material schedules and expected deliverables to support production and customer committed availability.

    + Managing and directing site purchasing with cancellations, on boarding suppliers, and Grief.

    + Managing and directing the material procurement specialists, including training, hiring, and coaching.

    + Establishing key performance metrics and benchmarks to guide supply chain planning and forecasting; monitoring planned vs. actual performance and presents results to senior management.

     

    Degree Requirement

     

    4-Year Degree and 10 years SC experience

    Ideal Candidates will have experience in the following:

    + Supply Chain Management

    + Supplier Development

    + Supply Network Management

    + Large Engine Product Knowledge (preferred)

    + Supply Chain Systems Experience / Expertise (MAMM desired)

    **Decision Making and Critical Thinking:** Knowledge of the decision-making process and associated tools and techniques; ability to accurately analyze situations and reach productive decisions based on informed judgment.

    + Ability to quickly identify solutions to support operations.

    + Identifies, obtains, and organizes relevant data and ideas.

    + Participates in documenting data, ideas, players, stakeholders, and processes.

    + Recognizes, clarifies, and prioritizes concerns.

    + Assists in assessing risks, benefits and consideration of alternatives.

    **Strategic Thinking:** Knowledge of the importance of "big picture" thinking and planning; ability to apply organizational acumen and competitiveness to identify and maintain focus on key success factors for the organization.

    **Level Working Knowledge** :

    + Implements the group's go-to-market strategy.

    + Raise awareness of potential strategic alliances and partnerships.

    + Explains elements of the strategy to others and encourages questions.

    + Monitors marketplace trends, opportunities, and vulnerabilities; reports findings.

    + Makes sound recommendations when faced with complex and contradictory alternatives.

    **Manufacturing Requirements Planning (MRP):** Knowledge of the processes, practices and systems used in manufacturing requirements planning (MRP); ability to optimize planning for manufacturing cycles and ensure capacity and materials availability.

    **Level Extensive Experience** :

    + Monitors total plant production scheduling and works cross-functionally with Operations.

    + Evaluates considerations for synchronizing demand for products with production capabilities.

    + Participates in sequencing work to meet targeted delivery dates for multiple and critical orders.

    + Participates in setting parameters for reorders, min/max levels, lead days and job days.

    + Coordinates capacity and materials planning for net demand within a planning period.

    + Adjusts plans based on sales forecasts, custom orders and demand-driven orders.

    **Supplier Management** - MFG: Knowledge of processes and methods to effectively manage business relationships and transactions with suppliers of raw materials or product components; ability to apply related knowledge, experience and skills into real practice.

    Level Extensive Experience:

    + Monitors supplier performance; works to resolve discrepancies between performance and agreements

    + Builds and maintains partnerships with multiple and/or large suppliers.

    + Ensures the fulfillment of report and record-keeping requirements.

    **Inventory Management:** Knowledge of processes and methods of inventory management; ability to effectively manage organization's materials, commodities, merchandises, or products.

    Level Working Knowledge:

    + Performs the receiving, ticketing, checking in and distributing of inventory items for a specific location.

    + Produces basic inventory management reports for senior staff to reconcile the inventory balances.

    + Tracks inventory information for a specific product group or location.

    + Works with basic tasks of inventory management for a specific location.\

    + Follows processes to take stock, release inventory or return into processing; resolves discrepancies.

    **Logistics Management** : Knowledge of the processes, tools and operational considerations for effective and efficient movement of goods and materials; ability to understand, predict and control the movement of goods, materials and supplies.

    **Level Working Knowledge** :

    + Uses tools, with guidance, to forecast delivery times, determine costs and assess performance.

    + Works with logistics in a domestic environment.

    + Maintains records of all shipments and invoices using an established system.

    + Assists in the development of process flows to track lead time by activity.

    + Participates in integrating logistics processes and developing effective networks.

    Summary Pay Range:

    $156,000.00 - $234,000.00

     

    Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
