STEP/UBMS is looking for a person or people interested in tutoring high school students (ages 14-18) on NYS Regents exam subject. We seek reliable individual(s) with good interpersonal communication skills, the ability to work with others, the desire to engage youth, strong organizational skills, and sensitivity to diverse students' needs. Tutors will work Monday to Friday afternoon. Tutoring will be held at BHS (Location: inside the UBMS office located inside the second floor library) and JCHS (Location: TBA). Hours will be based on program needs and your availability.
Tutor responsibilities include but are not limited to:
+ Help students understand the course material.
+ Help students prepare and study for their regents examinations.
+ Help students identify effective learning styles and improve study skills.
+ Maintain and report tutor contact log, timesheet, and any other materials to UBMS Project Coordinator.
Job Requirements:
Requirements:
+ Prior experience as a tutor for Regents subjects.
+ Experience with different tutoring methods and styles.
+ Ability to implement different types of learning strategies.
+ College Freshman and above in good academic standing.
+ Detail-oriented
+ Excellent communication skills.
Preferred:
+ Prior experience as a tutor for Regents subjects.
+ NYS teaching certification
+ Prior experience tutoring students for Regents examinations.
+ Experience working with students of diverse cultural backgrounds
Additional Information:
Salary: $18/hour.
Monday, May 26th - Tuesday, June 24th
