The position is for a Design technical supervisor of Compression Systems Advanced Engine Programs (AEP). This individual will lead the design team administratively and technically under the guidance of the Associate Director, and must be able to represent or stand in for supervisor when unavailable. Responsible for integration within CIPT, and with partners, mating modules and system design disciplines in execution of design tasks supporting an array of AEP programs. CSMC AEP covers tasks of both Commercial and Military nature and covers Design from nosecone/spinner through HPC EGV. Role will also involve management of Product Review Database especially in areas of records and action item/review close out. Candidate must have strong analytical, problem solving and trending skills with the ability to focus on results and driving tasks to completion.

What You Will Learn

AEP tasks run a large gamut of assignments. Hard to get bored here. Currently FAA CLEEN III – noise reduction, Eagle Blend fan & HPC rig – increased airfoil blend allowance, JetZero – PW2040 on new airframe, SWITCH – enable hybrid electric testing, AMPS (Collaborative Combat Aircraft) – inlet generator support on PWC engine, Composite Fan blade and associated module technologies. This names the major programs. There are other studies being performed, technologies advanced and process innovation going on.

What You Will Do

+ Assist Design Associate Director in organizing and managing task assignments & planning, manpower requirements and coordinating in-house and outsource resources. This may involve writing and closing out Statements of Work (SOW).

+ Provide performance feedback and results for the group as well as coach, train and develop junior design engineers.

+ Conceptual Engineering – devising something that has not existed or been combined in similar way before

+ Role is expected to result in several patent applications a year.

+ Provide support for multidiscipline teams to provide design solutions that balance customer requirements for durability, performance, cost and weight.

+ Ensure outsourcing work is completed, reviewed and approved by design associates with appropriate proficiency level.

+ Coordinate with other groups (ie Instrumentation, ED&L, EDSI, Test sites) to read across lessons learned, advance technology and improve engineering standard work processes/methods.

+ Review and approve Engineering task work / EKS. and documentation and communication of results to management.

Qualifications You Must Have

+ BS in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering with 8+ years engineering experience OR

+ Advanced degree with 5+ years of engineering experience

+ U.S. citizenship/ability to obtain security clearance required due to potential government contracts

+ Experience with gas turbine components – with emphasis on fans and compressors.

Qualifications We Prefer

+ Masters in Engineering or MBA

+ Ability to obtain a Security Clearance due to government contracts.

+ Familiarity with manufacturing processes and materials

+ Capability to work and lead in collaboration with other non-collocated teams.

+ Ability to work across functions, organizations, and all levels of management

+ Demonstrated leadership skills in planning and executing engineering tasks within team environment.

+ Think ahead, innovate and share vison of future so others can contribute.

+ Ability to mentor and develop staff. Previous team leadership experience .

+ Experience throughout Compressor part families, modules of civil and military application

+ Exceptional people and problem solving skills.

**Onsite** : Employees who are working in Onsite roles will work primarily onsite. This includes all production and maintenance workers, as they are essential to the development of our engines.

_Current site is East Hartford Engineering Technical Center (ETC), 4th floor near col’ns T to R-3 overlooking the Hanger. This summer plan is for group to move to Middletown Bld 140._

Candidates will learn more about role type and current site status throughout the recruiting process. For onsite and hybrid roles, commuting to and from the assigned site is the employee’s personal responsibility.

The salary range for this role is 101,000 USD - 203,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
