FACULTY VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT
Stella and Charles Guttman Community College at CUNY is seeking adjunct faculty to teach Human Services courses for the following semester sessions:
+ 2025 Fall Term - Session I: September 9 to December 19, 2025
+ 2025 Fall Term - Session II: January 5 to February 26, 2026
+ 2026 Spring Term - Session I: March 4 to June 16, 2026
We are looking for candidates with availability to teach courses in the evenings, on weekends, and in multiple modalities including in-person and hybrid formats. In addition, the successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to use effective pedagogical and technology-based strategies that enable the success of all students.
Adjunct faculty will be responsible for teaching and providing guidance related to the following courses, and additional courses in the Human Services program as needed:
Course Information:
HSVC 201 (Credits: 3, Hours: 1.5 Lecture, 10-10.5 Lab/Field) Fieldwork and Integrative Seminar I: Students in this course complete the equivalent of 125 required internship hours in a variety of human services settings. Students learn about agency structure and function, the activities of health and human service professionals, and the application of health and human service skills. A weekly integrative class session advances student understanding of the world of health and human service work in urban communities.
HSVC 113 (Credits: 2, Hours: 2) Methods of Intervention for Human Services: This course builds on an ecological systems perspective and is grounded in the identification, analysis, and implementation of evidence-based intervention strategies to work with individuals, families, groups, and communities in urban human services agencies and organizations. Students acquire the foundational skills needed to engage and communicate effectively with clients in a variety of human services settings. Generalist skills for the beginning, middle, and ending phases of intervention are introduced. Attention is paid to culturally informed practice.

QUALIFICATIONS
For Adjunct Assistant Professor, Adjunct Associate Professor, or Adjunct Professor:
Ph.D. degree in area(s) of experience or equivalent. Also required is the ability to teach successfully.
For Adjunct Lecturer:
Bachelor's degree in area(s) of expertise, and the ability to teach successfully.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Adjunct Lecturer: Master’s degree in Human Services, Social Work, or related fields.
For all ranks:
Possess expertise in Social Work, Psychology, Sociology, Counseling, Public Health, Human Services, Education, Criminal Justice or a related field. Experience teaching in a community college. Demonstrated ability in most of the following:
- Teaching students of diverse racial, ethnic, linguistic and educational backgrounds
- Active, student-centered pedagogy and significant student mentoring experience
- Use effective technology-based strategies that enable the success of all students, including, but not limited to, the use of Brightspace and Navigate360
COMPENSATION
• Adjunct Lecturer: $97.25 per hour
• Adjunct Assistant Professor: $106.09 per hour
• Adjunct Associate Professor: $114.93 per hour
• Adjunct Professor: $119.35 per hour
Commensurate with qualifications and experience.
