The Minnesota State Arts Board is seeking applications for the position of Director of Finance. This position ensures effective stewardship of the agency’s financial resources. The director plans and manages the agency’s budget and ensures that all financial transactions and grant expenditures are completed in compliance with federal and state laws, policies, and procedures. This position maintains and strengthens the agency’s internal controls and manages designated staff. This position must maintain positive, professional working relationships with other state and federal agencies, in particular, Minnesota Management and Budget, the Minnesota Department of Administration, and the National Endowment for the Arts. The Director of Finance is a member of the agency’s leadership team.
This position is eligible for a hybrid telework arrangement. With a telework arrangement, onsite attendance will be required for team members or as requested by management to meet business needs. Minimum Qualifications
+ Four (4) years of accounting/finance experience which includes preparing and presenting budgets, cost projections, and financial analyses.
+ Experience managing organization or agency budgets.
+ Previous managerial, supervisory, or lead worker experience.
+ Knowledge and understanding of accounting principles (GAAP) and business administration practices.
+ Knowledge or experience with governmental regulations related to financial transactions.
+ Ability to understand and interpret statistical and financial data for the purposes of monitoring, developing, recommending, implementing, and communicating financial policies and procedures.
Preferred Qualifications
+ Bachelor’s degree or higher in accounting, financial management, or related field.
+ Five or more years’ experience in the field of accounting or financial management.
+ Knowledge of federal and state rules and policies related to grant making and/or grants management.
