Description:
Allegion Indianapolis Exits is seeking a skilled and dedicated individual to join our team as a Wastewater Treatment Operator or Senior Wastewater Treatment Operator, depending on experience and qualifications. This role is critical in ensuring that our water effluent discharge meets all Local, State, and Federal discharge requirements. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong technical skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to safety and environmental standards.
What You Will Do:
+ Monitor control panels and adjust valves and gates manually or by remote control to regulate the flow of industrial wastewater.
+ Observe variations in operating conditions and interpret meter and gauge readings and test results to determine load requirements.
+ Start and stop pumps to control the flow of industrial wastewater through treating, settling, and sludge press processes.
+ Perform preventive maintenance tasks in the wastewater treatment area.
+ Maintain logs of operations and record meter and gauge readings, such as test results and chemical usage.
+ Collect water samples and conduct laboratory tests on wastewater.
+ Maintain inventory and report usage/needed materials to designated personnel.
+ Load and unload hazardous chemicals from truck by means of lift truck and physical handling.
+ Share responsibility for obtaining and moving chemical/materials for plating operation.
+ Prepare and load hazardous waste shipments and sign Hazardous Materials/Waste shipping papers.
+ Prepare SMR data for regulatory submittal.
+ Perform weekly hazardous waste inspections as per regulatory requirements.
+ Ensure proper labeling and management of hazardous waste, non-hazardous waste, universal waste and non-regulated waste to comply with regulatory requirements.
+ Be responsible for shut down of wastewater treatment and assist in shutdown of plating operation.
+ Provide assistance in plating projects such as bath dilutions and tank repairs and production tasks.
+ Perform or assist outside specialist in proper cleanup of spills according to established methods.
+ Maintain work area in a neat and orderly fashion.
+ Actively communicate with coatings lab and preventative maintenance employees.
What You Will Need to Succeed:
+ High school diploma or GED with a minimum of two years working knowledge of chemistry and chemicals, or an Associate Degree in chemistry, forensic science, biology, hydrology, environmental science, or hydrogeology.
+ Must have and maintain an active Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator Certificate, class 'B' or higher from the state of Indiana.
+ Completion and maintenance of Hazardous Communication/RCRA training and Department of Transportation (DOT) training.
+ Strong reasoning ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concreate variables in standardized situations.
+ Physical ability to perform duties involving regular exposure to moving mechanical parts and toxic or caustic chemicals.
+ Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and work in various environmental conditions.
+ Excellent communication skills for effective interaction with team members and other departments.
