Job Description
This Senior Systems Engineer role is an integrated part of the Solutions organization within Danfoss Power Solutions. This team delivers innovative solutions solving next generation customer challenges enabling the achievement of Danfoss Power Solutions profitable growth. The team focuses on technology and product development for decarbonization, electrification, autonomous, and advanced productivity projects. This specific position has a heavy emphasis on supporting the Digital Displacement business unit customer projects in North America. Placing value on innovative solutions and responsive support to our customers are keys to success.
Digital Displacement represents truly ground-breaking technology for the hydraulics industry, and we are in the middle of an amazing journey. The digital nature of the technology lends itself to deep and novel system integration; thus, to extract the most benefit from this new technology, it is necessary to understand how these digital machines can be best incorporated into customer applications. The applicant will therefore need to be familiar and eager to develop in several domains including hydraulics, electronic control systems, and software.
This role will have a deep knowledge of the many facets of the application of Digital Displacement and will provide technical solutions, documentation, support, guidance, and training for the Danfoss organization and customers. They will also provide feedback to the Digital Displacement Business regarding the products and options that could be developed to better serve our customers.
Job Responsibilities
Responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to, the following.
+ Act as a technical consultant to our customers to find optimal solutions for their needs
+ Generate decisions on technical feasibility in coordination with customers, Sales & Marketing, and the Digital Displacement Business Unit
+ Engage and coordinate with our product team to improve our systems continuously according to market demands
+ Plan and implement formal training and coaching for our customers and sales teams
+ Create and facilitate the maintenance of appropriate technical documentation and sales tools
Background & Skills
Required Qualifications
+ Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in Mechanical, Electrical or Agricultural Engineering.
+ 10 or more years of relevant industry experience inclusive of 3 or more years of Digital Displacement application engineering or similar experience
+ Applicable work experience with hydraulics, mechatronics, software, and/or electronic engineering; IFPS certification in fluid power a strong plus.
Preferred qualifications
+ Software aptitude/awareness is important as Digital Displacement is a software configurable product.Solid experience in programming, dynamic simulation, model-based software development, and noise vibration & harshness methods are strong benefits.
+ Working mastery of machine control systems & theory, data acquisition, and common industrial and mobile communication protocols and methods
+ Business travel required up to 20% as required
+ Knowledge of Danfoss Power Solutions product capabilities and business systems is a plus (i.e. SAP, Salesforce CRM, Teamcenter)
+ Demonstrated competence in design, operation and testing of construction, agricultural, and industrial machinery
