We are seeking a highly motivated and independent individual as a research assistant to join our cutting-edge disease modeling group.

    Key Responsibilities

    + Performing a variety of routine and specialized laboratory experimental specimen preparations and experimental procedures for the purpose of research, while under immediate supervision.

    + Assisting in the use of specialized laboratory equipment and analysis of data generated by this equipment.

    + Developing protocols and performing experiments to model cardiac diseases with induced pluripotent stem cell (iPSC) models.

    + Perform differentiation protocols in small volume stirred bioreactors for large-scale cardiomyocyte production.

    + Maintain database of iPSC lines and interface with other lab members to ensure specimen quality and data integrity.

    + Optimize protocols for differentiation into relevant cell types.

    + Perform genome editing to enhance relevance of iPSC disease models.

    + Routine molecular biology tasks including cloning and PCR.

    + Learn and develop skills in bioinformatics to assist in the analysis of genetic data including DNA sequencing, proteomics, and single-cell RNA sequencing data.

    + Collaborate closely with bioengineers to develop novel micro-physiologic systems for human disease modeling.

    + Maintaining excellent records of results and methodologies as well assisting in compiling and analyzing data.

    + This position will not require any animal handling

    Minimum Qualifications

    Education:

    + The knowledge of theories, principles, and concepts acquired through completion of a Bachelor's degree in biology, animal science, toxicology, pharmacology or a related field.

    + A Master’s degree is highly desired but not required.

    Experience:

    + Experience with mammalian cell culture is required. • Experience with stem cell culture and biology is highly desired.

    + Intermediate laboratory skills including cell culture, molecular biology, microscopy, use of basic analytical equipment is required.

    + Excellent interpersonal skills and the desire to learn new skills are a must.
