    Position Overview

    The Transporter/Case Aide is primarily responsible for transporting children in care to and from case-related appointments. These appointments may include, but are not limited to, medical visits, therapy sessions, and family visitations. Additionally, the Transporter/Case Aide assists the Transportation Coordinator with transportation and vehicle-related functions for the agency. This position requires a flexible schedule as determined by the Transportation Coordinator, with input from the Transportation/Case Aide.

     

    Position Requirements & Specifications

     

    + High School diploma / GED Equivalent, required.

    + Clean and Valid New York State Driver’s License (actively licensed at least one year) - is required*

    + Capable of directing children in a structured environment.

    + Possess an attitude of compassion for children in crisis.

    + Physical and emotional health conducive to working with children in care;

    + It is essential to have patience, flexibility and adaptability.

    + Experience with children who have a range of mental health diagnosis.

    + Effective communication skills (written and verbal).

    + Willing and able to work in close proximity with the clients we serve.

    + Ability to pass required pre-employment background checks, to include fingerprinting.

    * Staff in driving positions must be able to meet the agency’s minimum requirements of our insurance policy for authorized drivers including, but not limited to the minimum age of 21 at time of hire, and the ability to maintain insurability throughout employment.

    Essential Duties & Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

    + Transport children to and from case-related appointments.

    + Communicate with medical professionals, therapists, and caseworkers about the child’s current needs and issues.

    + Set necessary limits to provide a safe, secure, and therapeutic environment when transporting children.

    + Assist with other case-related tasks as directed by program staff, including last-minute transportation requests, and documenting in the AWARDS system any unusual or concerning behavior.

    + Appropriately clean the vehicle after each transport.

    + Assist the Transportation Coordinator with the upkeep and maintenance of agency vehicles, as needed.

    + Perform additional duties and responsibilities assigned by the Transportation Coordinator/Supervisor, such as conducting quarterly vehicle inspections and agency vehicle cleaning.
