Description of Work Unit
The College of Natural Sciences ( CNS ) studies the foundational sciences – we ask fundamental questions and apply our knowledge to every field of study. Consisting of eight departments and 10 centers our college is a leader in research, teaching, and community engagement. Over 4,800 undergraduate students and 700 Masters and Ph.D. candidates pursue degrees within our departments, and are taught by over 200 faculty.

Position Summary
The Content Accessibility Specialist will assist the College of Natural Sciences in improving the overall accessibility of content published by the college. The primary focus of this position is on working with Faculty on digital content (PDFs, etc) in the Canvas LMS platform with the goal of meeting institutional, state, and federal standards. This position will work with stakeholders to follow CSU and CNS’s accessibility frameworks and best practices.
Please note that non-student hourly employees are able to work for up to 9-months within a 12-month period. Non-student hourly employees are required to have a 4-month break prior to starting a new 9-month period, if allowable.
Hybrid work may be available after a period of onboarding.
Position Minimum Qualifications
+ 1+ year(s) of professional experience with either Digital Media or Administrative Work
Preferred Qualifications
+ Strong task-management
+ Ability to work independently
+ Experience working in Canvas or similar Learning Management System ( LMS )
Experience or knowledge of the following technologies:
+ Microsoft Office suite
+ HTML or other semantic tag language
+ Adobe Acrobat Professional
+ Jaws or similar
+ Web Content Accessibility Guidelines ( WCAG ) standards
+ Universal Design for Learning ( UDL ) principles
