    THE ROLE

    The Area Director of Finance assists the Regional Director of Food & Beverage in the development and implementation of company goals and priorities relating to financial management, forecasting, budgeting, accounting, purchasing, and/or payroll in compliance with State and Federal law, and Legends x ASM Global policies and procedures. This role is based at the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas with additional venue responsibilities as assigned by management.

     

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities

     

    + Ensure compliance with all reporting to the Clients per venue service contracts.

    + Manage and maintain internal controls and compliance in Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable.

    + Ensure compliance for tax reporting purposes; Oversee (and participate in as needed) the tax reporting preparation process.

    + Review and approve bank reconciliations, account reconciliations, and other financial analyses as needed.

    + Create, maintain, and manage various budgets and forecasts, including the operating budget, monthly forecasts, capital budget, and cash flow analysis.

    + Lead the process of recording manual journal entries and ensure accuracy of entries.

    + Oversee finance-related processes (fixed assets, payroll, etc.) to ensure the accuracy and completeness of accounting records.

    + Lead cost accounting processes for each event and location.

    + Review and sign off on financial statements, budget reports, and event flash reports in a timely and accurate manner.

    + Ensure that monthly financial reporting timelines and deadlines are met and that Finance is compliant with the reporting review process (documents are reviewed and approved for submission before being submitted).

    + Collaborate with external auditors to complete the annual audit and issue audited financial statements.

    + Prepare financial reports and analyses as requested. Manage the facility's cash flow needs, investing idle funds while maintaining a minimum operating account balance to fund operations.

    + Oversee all functions related to Payroll, Accounts Payable, & Accounts Receivable.

    + Oversee Human Resources and Purchasing Department.

    + Other duties as assigned.

    Leadership and Management:

    + Ability to manage a team of 2 direct reports.

    + Hire, train, and retain finance and accounting staff.

    + Set and maintain performance standards for the accounting and operating teams,

    + Create KPI dashboards and visualization tools to monitor and report on team performance and financial metrics.

    Functional Competencies:

    + 10+ years of related experience, preferably in the hospitality and/or events industry.

    + 5+ years of accounting or finance leadership experience.

    + Strong financial planning and analysis experience.

    + Knowledge of accounting and finance best practices. Experience developing and implementing policy and procedure improvements and internal controls.

    + Proficiency in preparing and analyzing financial statements, using analysis to guide company decision-making.

    + Extensive operational finance experience including tracking event-specific and labor costs, leading cost accounting efforts, and conducting variance analysis.

    + Must be comfortable with the seasonality and demand of a highly event-driven schedule.

    + Understanding of the cadence and demands of sports and entertainment events, including the need for on-site support during nontraditional hours (nights, weekends, holidays).

    + Flexibility to work long hours during peak seasons with frequent events, balanced by a lesser demanding schedule during non-peak periods.

    + Financial and management reporting experience.

    + Expertise in Microsoft Office, with a strong focus on Excel.

    + Experience using Microsoft Dynamics 365 or similar ERP systems.

    + Venue management experience in a Convention Center and Food & Beverage operation is highly desirable.

    Education and/or Experience

     

    + Bachelor’s degree in accounting and finance is required.

    + Master’s degree preferred.

    + CPA designation preferred.

    + Proficiency with creating and using spreadsheets and importing/exporting data.

    + Delivers appropriate information to stakeholders in an ongoing, timely fashion.
