Job Description
BAE Systems is looking for an Industrial Engineering Co-op to work in a fast paced manufacturing environment at their Nashua, New Hampshire facility. Working closely with multi-disciplinary teams, and being able to adapt to a rapidly changing production environment brings with it an exciting opportunity to influence the successful execution of production goals and achieving operational excellence. In this role, the Industrial Engineering Co-op will be learn about manufacturing planning and integration of varied production operations, including assembly and testing processes in order to achieve operational excellence and to drive efficiencies. This individual will support a team to identify and streamline all aspects of manufacturing operations using classical Industrial Engineering/Lean methods, utilize and perform simulation modeling tools to perform capacity analysis, create manufacturing floor layouts, implement continuous improvements and lead six sigma green belt projects.
Responsibilities may include:
Conduct planning activities such as time studies, manufacturing space and production line layout design, production line balancing, and capital expenditure studies.
Engage in Continuous Improvement activities using 3D design and print technologies.
. Proactively engage with cross-functional teams to identify program requirements for current and future production volumes. Perform capacity analysis and develop recommendations on equipment capacity and human capital requirements to support production ramp and manufacturing growth targets.
Work closely with program teams to understand the future work to be performed in the factory and accordingly update capacity assessments.
Monitor and develop recommendations to improve production KPI and metrics such as production costs, downtime, takt time, and overall equipment effectiveness.
Implement continuous improvement and Kaizen events to improve manufacturing outcomes. This activity often requires the use of 3D printed solutions.
Participate in Lean / producibility studies to achieve defect reduction, improve manufacturing methods/processes or positively impact resource utilization. Complete required six sigma and quality trainings. Lead green belt projects to achieve operational excellence, reduce costs and improve product yield.
Closely work with operations, supply chain, and cross-functional teams to support production, resolve problems and generate ideas to support achievement of business objectives.
Utilize data tools and perform data analysis as well as root cause analysis as required.
Comply with, support, and help develop as applicable BAE safety policies and maintain a safe work environment.
Required Education, Experience, & Skills
+ Enrolled in Bachelors/Masters degree in Industrial or Mechanical Engineering
+ Familiarity with 3D design and print technologies.
+ Working knowledge of MS office and AutoCAD
+ Strong team player with the ability to work collaboratively across the organization
+ Sound interpersonal skills to successfully interface with company personnel at all levels, customers and suppliers.
Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills
+ Familiarity with manufacturing shop layout, material presentation and flow
+ Familiarity with manufacturing capacity analysis
+ Skills in problem solving and statistics
+ Familiarity with 3D printing and continuous improvement
Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $48620 - $67640
Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
Temporary employees generally are not eligible for BAE Systems benefits, but can elect to participate in the 401(k) savings plan. Temporary employees working 20 hours per week are eligible for medical benefits, the employee assistance program, and business travel accident insurance.
