Accounting Report and Data Lead
The Accounting Report & Data Lead is responsible for partnering with Controller and Reconcilement stakeholders and technology partners to drive the transformation of accounting and reconciliation processes, procedures, aging reviews, and management reports. The position will report to the Accounting Systems Manager and will work closely with partners to ensure an in-depth knowledge of the overall financial system ecosystem is maintained while partnering to automate the reconciliation process. Additionally, this position will assist in developing the accounting and reconciliation process for new products and modernization initiatives.
Position Responsibilities:Operational Excellence
+ Review current accounting processes and lead the redesign of those processes into new solutions that create efficiencies, implementing automation where possible to reconcilement processes.
+ Actively partner with Controller department colleagues and key internal stakeholders to obtain an in-depth expertise on transactional business process flows to ensure the team maintains a robust understanding of accounting work flows and transactions impacting downstream reconcilement processes.
+ Assess weekly, monthly, and quarterly aging reviews and reports and transform existing data to ensure key performance metrics are measurable and reportable to leadership.
+ Collaborate with Accounting Systems team members, technology and business partners to assess and improve current state system functionality.
+ Serve as workstream lead on all product and modernization initiatives impacting reconciliation processes, including designing the testing and development of new processes and reports.
+ Assist with system production support partnering with the accounting team and technology to prioritize identified issues to avoid future disruptions to reconcilement processes.
Compliance and Risk Management
+ Track internal control changes as they relate to new procedural changes in order to review and designate necessary frequency: daily, monthly, quarterly, and annual processes.
+ Maintain a strong comprehension of key operational risks and significant regulations that apply to reporting and accounting data, with a functional understanding of banking and financial services industry processes and accounting implications.
+ Proactively identify and recommend changes to operational processes and drive those to completion to contribute to a continuous improvement environment.
Strategic Thinking
+ Develop in-depth key user knowledge of the accounting and reconciliation systems to liaise with Reconcilement colleagues and Accounting Systems to conceptualize gained efficiencies within the system.
+ Provide strategic thought leadership related to current accounting and reconcilement processes.
+ Partner with colleagues and internal stakeholders to assess risk and prioritize process improvements.
Qualifications
Position Qualifications:
+ Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university in Accounting or relevant business field
+ 6 years of experience in public accounting with increasing responsibility understanding evaluation, and/or designing accounting processes/systems, internal controls and financial data flows OR accounting experience in a banking/financial services environment with experience in financial systems and subsystem accounting and reporting
+ 4 years of experience working on a project team with increasing responsibility in engagement and leadership of project activities
+ 4 years of experience implementing or providing production support to accounting or financial systems
Licenses/Certifications:
+ CPA license preferred OR other certifications relevant to the job such as CISA (Certified Information Systems Auditor), CISM (Certified Information Security Manager), Workday Pro, Workiva or Trintech Certification
