    The Metrology Quality Manager will be responsible for championing CMM quality programs, air tool repair, torque tool, and gage lab management in adherence with the Caterpillar QMS. This would include the execution of quality processes in support of division wide certification and integration of improvement recommendations from these assessments into strategic plans for the large engine facility. The Metrology Quality Manager is accountable for facilitating metrology and torque processes for the facility as well as project leadership on new capital investment in the precision measurement equipment.

    Responsibilities:

    + Provide leadership and expertise in setting metrology Quality measures for the facility and reporting progress towards meeting goals.

    + Ensure the facility metrology quality systems, strategies, and plans are linked in a coordinated manner to enable common strategic goals and communicate them in a clear and understandable manner to resources within and supporting the business unit objectives.

    + Formulate, develop, and implement metrology quality strategies to improve the as delivered quality to the facility in promoting a defect free culture and mind set.

    + Develop innovative strategies to reduce and control internal and external cost of poor-quality factors.

    + Search for new quality technologies and lead the development and deployment of those which demonstrate high cost/value relationships.

    + Provide overall leadership to diverse and complex managers, individual contributors, production and contract employees totaling 40+ employees

    Degree Requirement

    + Bachelor’s degree in engineering or manufacturing (must have)

    + Advanced degree in engineering or manufacturing (preferred)

    Additional Certifications/Affiliations Desired

    + American Society for Quality (ASQ) Manager of Quality (CMQ), Quality Engineer (CQE)

    Top Candidates will have:

    + Detailed knowledge of manufacturing operations and quality disciplines, techniques, CMM, tools, and equipment.

    + 10+ years of job-related experience

    + Good interpersonal and analytical skills

    + Experience as a leader of multi-level organization

    • Coaches others on how to effectively mitigate risks associated with quality.

    • Consults on quality risks metrics, practices, guidelines, policies, and procedures.

    • Designs awareness programs and campaigns for mitigating cross-functional quality issues.

    • Leads crisis management team to determine the severity of crises and initiates appropriate response actions.

    • Supervises the documentation and evaluation of Quality Risk Management processes.

    **Manufacturing Standards, Procedures and Policies** : Knowledge of organizational standards, procedures and policies in manufacturing activities; ability to plan, guide, and monitor manufacturing processes for compliance.

    Level Extensive Experience:

    • Consults on development and implementation of cross-functional standards.

    • Participates in the development of organizational policies and practices.

    • Develops and uses control and monitoring mechanisms for adherence.

    • Collaborates with other functions on establishing and documenting joint standards.

    • Leads the implementation of structured approaches to investigate a vast range of problem types, determine causes, and find resolutions.

    • Mentors others in determining which situations are candidates for root cause analysis.

    • Facilitates choosing one of multiple approaches to resolution; helps weigh relative resource expenditures.

    • Consults on figuring out the root cause to a complex problem or situation.

    • Oversees situations where the removal of the cause entails more resource expenditure than dealing with the symptom.

    • Creates and fosters an RCA-friendly culture and environment; helps instill a "non-punitory" policy towards problem identifiers.

    Summary Pay Range:

    $144,960.00 - $217,320.00
