    Job Description

    Position Purpose:

    The incumbent is responsible for monitoring and operation of odor control equipment at Cedar Creek facility, related environmental monitoring and lab testing including sample collection, analysis, result recording, and reporting. Conduct required routine operational and maintenance duties for the odor control equipment. Receive, investigate, respond to, and report odor complaints. Conduct investigation, recommend, and implement preventive and corrective actions. Liaison with management and community stake holders as directed.

    Primary Duties/Responsibilities:

    + Responsible for developing, updating, and overseeing implementation of odor control procedures.

    + Monitor fixed odor monitoring system, review data, analyze for trends, and provide recommendation.

    + Diagnose and troubleshoot process problems, as related to odor control and other environmental matters, and take remedial actions as well as preventive actions.

    + Develop inventory strategy and lists.

    + Good reading, math, writing, scientific and verbal as well as written communication skills.

    + Understand and carry out verbal and written operating instructions.

    + Demonstrate professional integrity and confidentiality regarding Veolia business.

    + Communicate with management, client, other odor stakeholders while safeguarding Veolia interests.

    + Support community outreach efforts, as needed.

    + Operate odor control equipment as required manually or through instrument controls (local panel, programmable logic control, or computer terminal as required.

    + Perform field testing (chemical, physical, biological) in order to adjust chemical dosing in odor control equipment.

    + Monitor and observe operating conditions, record observations and data, diagnose technical and operating problems and take corrective actions. Communicate status, changes, and abnormalities in operating areas.

    + Follow process control procedures for assigned areas, verify and report suspected malfunctions, and variance to operational supervisor and/or plant manager.

    + Manage chemicals inventories, coordinate ordering and receiving of chemicals, prepare solutions, and transfers as needed.

    + Perform routine lab tests and instrument calibration and routine maintenance.

    + Ensure portable meters are available, calibrated, and in working order.

    + Perform minor maintenance including preventive maintenance, lubrication and minor adjustment, basic troubleshooting, recommend solutions, and where applicable generate maintenance requests.

    + Operate vehicle for plant operation purposes.

    + Assures work is performed in a safe manner following and respecting all company policies and applicable regulations.

    + Perform clean-up and housekeeping tasks for work areas, tools, equipment, facilities, and grounds.

    + Develop operating procedures and documents as directed.

    + Perform environmental and regulatory reporting as required.

    + Perform other responsibilities as assigned.

    + Prepare reports on odor control equipment status, analysis, and recommendations.

    + Record and enter data relevant to odor control systems and odor complaints.

    Work Environment:

    + Work is performed both inside and outside with exposure to all kinds of weather conditions.

    + Incumbents may be occasionally exposed to some noise, silica, dust, fumes, smoke, gasses, greases, oils, electrical energy, solvents and vibration.

    + Incumbents may work on slippery/uneven surfaces, around machinery with moving parts, moving objects/vehicles, ladder/scaffolding, below ground and may be exposed to water or other liquid materials.

    + Maintain a high level of focus on health, safety and environment, ensuring safety within all activities.

    Qualifications

    Education/Experience/Background:

    + Bachelor's degree in engineering, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Environment, other Sciences, Master's Degree a plus.

    + 2-5 years of experience in environmental, lab, or utility operations or maintenance.

    + Experience in field environmental monitoring and testing.

    + Working knowledge of methods, techniques, principles, and practices of wastewater treatment, as acquired through a minimum of 1 year of experience.

    + Prior experience in operating odor or other types of scrubbers will be an asset.

    Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

    + Strong interpersonal and problem-solving abilities, strong communication skills, both written and oral.

    + Experience in environmental control and monitoring.

    + Conversant with Google Suite.

    + Availability to be on site 5 days a week.

    Required Certification/Licenses/Training:

    + Demonstrated technical competence and progressive experience in field environmental duties.

    + NY State Grade 2, 2A or higher License a plus.

    + Have passed NY State Basic Laboratory Course or proficiency exam a plus.

    Additional Information

    **Pay Rate:** $38.46 to $41.35 per hour.
