    Amazon is looking for a motivated Senior Data Engineer with strong database, analytical skills and big data technology experience to join the Customer Service Worldwide Defect Elimination (WWDE) Organization. WWDE drives Amazon to provide excellent customer experiences by remediating issues in real-time, reducing defective products and purchasing experiences, and enabling others through our suite of Voice of the Customer tools. To expand and innovate on this vision, WWDE is seeking a passionate, customer obsessed, Sr. Data Engineer to manage one of our key customer experiences - concession resolutions and escalations helping us unite all of our policies across Amazon.

     

    This is an exciting opportunity to re-envision the data architecture across our concessions systems and be hands-on to deliver your data solutions end-to-end and bring your impact to the teams immediately. As a key data solution provider, you will be partnering with business teams, leaders, engineering teams, and scientists and business intelligence analysts to design, build, expand and optimize data solutions to ensure data scalability, stability, and accuracy. You will be working with massive amount of data , and your big data solutions will be supporting our rapidly growing, complex and dynamic businesses demand for data.

     

    Finally yet importantly, you should have excellent communication skills and the ability to adjust communication to different groups of stakeholders, collaborating with BI engineers, data scientists, software engineers, product managers, program managers, and leadership to evaluate business needs and objectives in order to set up the best data management environment.

     

    Key job responsibilities

     

    - Understand unique business needs, review existing tech stack and data landscape, design/re-design, implement and build an analytical data infrastructure for multiple ads businesses.

     

    - Influence upstream and partner data teams to ensure the reliable data solutions for our team.

     

    - Manage AWS resources including EC2, EMR, S3, Glue, Redshift, etc.

     

    - Interface with other technology teams to extract, transform, and load data from a wide variety of data sources.

     

    - Explore, learn and adopt the latest AWS technologies to provide new capabilities and increase efficiency.

     

    - Collaborate with and support Business Intelligence Engineers (BIEs) to recognize and help adopt best practices in reporting and analysis: data integrity, test design, analysis, validation, and documentation.

     

    - Work with stakeholders to understand the business questions and define requirements and build out scalable data solutions.

     

    - Support and continually improve ongoing reporting and analysis processes, automating or simplifying self-service support for customers.

    You will work closely with senior leaders across cross-functional stakeholder teams within Amazon to drive collaboration and influence them to prioritize projects, meet objectives, and adhere to business plans towards shared objectives.

    Basic Qualifications

    - 5+ years of data engineering experience

     

    - Experience with data modeling, warehousing and building ETL pipelines

     

    - Experience with SQL

     

    - Experience in at least one modern scripting or programming language, such as Python, Java, Scala, or NodeJS

    Preferred Qualifications

    - Experience with big data technologies such as: Hadoop, Hive, Spark, EMR

     

    - Experience operating large data warehouses

     

    - Experience building/operating highly available, distributed systems of data extraction, ingestion, and processing of large data sets

     

    - Experience communicating with users, other technical teams, and management to collect requirements, describe data modeling decisions and data engineering strategy

     

    - Experience providing technical leadership and mentoring other engineers for best practices on data engineering

     

    - Experience providing technical leadership on high-impact cross-fucntional technical project

    Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $139,100/year in our lowest geographic market up to $240,500/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
