Job Description:
Iowa State Athletics is seeking candidates with a knack for public speaking, an enjoyment in understanding and analyzing NCAA rules and policies, and skilled at relationship building, to join our team as an athletics specialist II to serve as an Assistant Director of Compliance. This position will assist the Compliance Office in ensuring coaches, student-athletes, staff, former students, and boosters are informed of and abide by NCAA, Conference, and institutional rules and regulations. The position will initially have the primary responsibility of overseeing rules education.
Examples of what you'll do:
+ Create, coordinate and implement rules education programming related to NCAA rules, Conference rules, and ISU policies and procedures for the institution’s student-athletes, coaches, staff, and University stakeholders.
+ Monitor and coordinate functional program area(s) such as: initial eligibility, continuing eligibility, transfer eligibility, squad lists, practice and competition eligibility reports, camps and clinics, etc.
+ Serve as a subject matter expert and provide rules interpretations to the institution’s student-athletes, coaches, staff, and University stakeholders.
+ Analyze, request, research, verify, create, and distribute a large volume of information.
+ Maintain several modules and reports within databases such as Teamworks, ARMS, and Compliance Assistant 2.0 (CA2.0).
+ Assist in waiver writing, external and internal audits, and other compliance duties.
+ Complete NCAA/Big 12/Institutional paperwork.
+ Commit to adhere to all rules and regulations of the institution, Conference, and NCAA.
The ideal candidates will possess good knowledge of NCAA regulations and excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively communicate with individuals and groups. The candidates will also need to have strong organizational skills, be highly detail oriented, and have the ability to research and analyze compliance related issues and NCAA legislation through the Legislative Services Database (LSDBi). This position requires a high level of integrity, solid judgment, and decision-making along with the ability to handle confidentiality, multiple projects simultaneously, and meet departmental deadlines.
C andidates must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. on an on-going basis without sponsorship.
