    Job Title: Histotechnician III

    Job Description

    The Histotechnician will perform all routine and special paraffin histotechnology duties in our state-of-the-art CAP-certified pathology laboratory. Under the guidance of a Senior or Lead Histotechnologist, you will provide high-quality diagnostic material within established turn-around times.

    Responsibilities

    + Cut, stain, and perform other tasks required to process tissue in the Immunohistochemistry laboratory.

    + Perform accurate gross description on tissue samples.

    + Conduct quality control procedures established for each method and maintain accurate records.

    + Operate all instruments and equipment according to accepted written procedures and identify any instrument or equipment problems.

    + Meet acceptable turnaround time and productivity standards for the section.

    + Recognize testing errors, discrepancies, or problems and notify appropriate personnel to assist in problem resolution.

    + Record, transcribe, and maintain records of patient test results according to protocol.

    + Assist other personnel with identifying and analyzing inconsistent and abnormal results.

    + Review accuracy and completeness of results prior to releasing them in the Laboratory Information System.

    + Complete routine and STAT testing within acceptable turn-around time guidelines.

    Essential Skills

    + Associate degree in medical technology, chemistry, biology, or related life science.

    + Formal training in Histology from an accredited program (720 hours).

    + State Licensure where applicable (CA, FL, NY require licensing).

    + Meet CLIA personnel standard criteria.

    + Skills in microtomy, grossing, processing, embedding, cutting, and routine special staining techniques.

    + 5-7 years of experience.

    Additional Skills & Qualifications

    + Proficiency in laboratory and lab equipment operation.

    + Strong skills in cutting, embedding, and sample preparation.

    + Punctual and reliable.

    Work Environment

    The position operates in a state-of-the-art CAP-certified pathology laboratory. The role requires working with laboratory equipment and instruments in a controlled environment. The dress code is professional attire, as appropriate for a laboratory setting.

    Pay and Benefits

    The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $32.00/hr.
