    Job Summary

    Dir Pastoral Care - Region develops, organizes, and coordinates pastoral care and chaplain services for Baylor Scott and White Health (BSWH). Develops and implements programs to meet the religious, spiritual, and interfaith needs of BSWH patients, families, employees, and visitors. Creates system-wide policies, procedures, and guidelines for BSWH pastoral programs in line with BSWH mission and strategic goals. Directs and delivers chaplain services in BSWH facilities, including visiting, listening, counseling, and providing emotional and spiritual support during illness, loss, death, or other life changes. Facilitates and provides specialized patient counseling and spiritual guidance in grief support, end-of-life planning, advanced directives, and hospice care. Collaborates with physicians, clinical staff, and social workers to deliver pastoral services with other patient care services. May direct educational programs, including supervision of pastoral resident programs if needed. May also manage special ministry programs or activities that serve the religious and spiritual needs of BSWH patients and communities.

     

    A region Director translates and implements strategic plans and goals for their area. Makes final judgments on operational matters and ensures goals are met. Recommends policies and organizational changes for the area. Plans and executes projects and initiatives that meet annual goals. Erroneous judgments at this level can negatively impact the area's success, business unit, and possibly the overall organization. Plans and directs operations of a department or area, responsible for staffing, processes, budgets, and costs. Guides and advises subordinates to meet schedules, resolve technical problems, and monitor performance. Has a larger, more complex organization or functional area than a manager. Often has one or more managers or supervisors reporting to the role.

    Essential Functions of the Role

    + Directs pastoral care for assigned area of responsibility for BSWH.

    + Implements and recommends strategic and operational plans and priorities for pastoral care services aligned with BSWH overall business goals.

    + Manages development and implementation of pastoral care procedural guidelines and long-range plans and implementation of new programs across the System.

    + Represents the Department of pastoral care administratively and clearly communicates department staff input on planning and other decision-making issues.

    + Directs the effective management of financial, informational, and personnel resources to ensure efficient operations and continuity of care.

    + Manages the development and implementation of pastoral care and education policies. Ensures quality and consistency of pastoral care across BSWH.

    + Prepares and delivers interfaith worship services when scheduled. These services meet the spiritual needs of diverse patients, families, and staff within the BSWH community.

    + Directs the clinical pastoral education (CPE) programs, adjunct faculty, and the program coordinator to ensure program structures comply with standards.

    + Collaborates with the admissions committee of the CPE program. Reviews candidates' qualifications and selects qualified new students.

    + Directs the educational program delivery to CPE Program students to ensure they attain certifications.

    Key Success Factors

    + Bachelor’s degree in divinity, theology, or related field preferred. Master’s degree preferred.

    + 3+ years of experience as a clinical chaplain, pastoral education, or related area.

    + Experience in a leadership role preferred.

    + Ordination and/or ecclesiastical endorsement for chaplaincy.

    + Designation as a Certified Supervisor from the Association of Clinical Pastoral Education (ACPE) required.

    + Member of the Association of Professional Chaplains and/or the National Association of Catholic Chaplains preferred.

    + Experience in the areas of listening ministry, grief work, and ethical decision making.

    + Exceptional knowledge of current trends and best practices in clinical pastoral education (CPE) and chaplaincy.

    + In good standing with denomination, endorsement.

    + Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

    + EDUCATION - Bachelor's or 4 years of work experience above the minimum qualification

    + EXPERIENCE - 3 Years of Experience

    Board Cert Chaplain (BCC)
