Job Summary:
The Shift Lead directs and controls the warehouse operations for the purpose of creating and maintaining a safe work environment as well as the efficient processing and delivery of customer orders.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Runs production at the specified work center.
• Programs new parts and resolves programming issues that might arise.
• Conducts shift huddles to discuss production, safety and housekeeping.
• Serves as a mentor with the production assistants and less experienced machine operators.
• Tracks production, diagnose bottle necks, direct personnel to tasks that generate successful production execution.
• Oversee inventory cycle counts.
• Receives and distributes paperwork for orders.
• Conducts pre shift machine inspection and safety walks at the beginning of every shift.
• Delegates tasks when work centers are down for maintenance.
• Tracks and reports on housekeeping, safety and maintenance issues via the spotlight app.
• Addresses and corrects quality issues when they arise.
Position Requirements:
• A high school diploma is required.
• A minimum of 1-3 years’ experience in warehouse operations is required, preferably in metals distribution or related metal industry.
• Must be able to operate production equipment, micrometers, forklift, and overhead crane.
• Must have an understanding of inventory management, quality control, production scheduling, trouble shoot machines, and personnel management.
• Must have knowledge of computers and Microsoft Office.
• Ability to sit, stand, and walk throughout work schedule, 6-8 hours per day.
• Ability to regularly maneuver up to 50 pounds.
• Ability and willingness to work at high heights.
