    Job Description

    This position reports directly to the EVP/Chief Revenue Officer and serves as both the senior lending officer and the chief credit officer for the credit union. It carries day-to-day management responsibility and oversight of all consumer, real estate, and commercial lending, as well as collections and loan servicing operations.

     

    The top priority for this role is to manage lending risk while developing and implementing strategies that align with the credit union’s short- and long-term goals. The role also ensures member growth and satisfaction within a safe and sound lending environment.

     

    This position is responsible for all credit-related board policies, including recommending changes and ensuring the effective implementation of policies and departmental standards.

    ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

    + Achieve Performance Metrics as outlined in the annual Business Unit Measures and Strategic Initiatives Matrix.

    + Develop strategic plans for each business unit aligned with organizational objectives. Collaborate with lending, operations, risk, and marketing teams to implement strategies that drive loan growth across all business lines, improve net revenue contributions, and manage credit risk, delinquency, and losses.

    + Provide leadership in planning, implementing, and directing lending strategies for the Credit Union and its subsidiaries.

    + Coordinate and oversee the development, implementation, and execution of the division’s budget and operating plans to support strategic goals and objectives.

    + Lead the strategic planning and execution of digital lending initiatives.

    + Ensure compliance with all applicable regulations, including but not limited to the SAFE Act and Bank Secrecy Act.

    + Identify and implement improvements in operational efficiency across all departments.

    + Actively participate in assigned committees, including ALCO, Member Service, Strategy Committee, and others.

    + Manage the credit union’s loan quality by ensuring that programs, pricing, policies, and standards maintain high-quality assets within the portfolio.

    + Maintain overall responsibility for the credit quality of the loan portfolio.

    + Monitor portfolio balances by analyzing new loan production versus loan payoffs to achieve credit union goals related to growth, product mix, and yield. Establish clear performance standards for each position.

    + Ensure lending operations contribute to overall profitability.

    + Conduct merger due diligence as needed and prepare detailed analytical reports and recommendations based on findings.

    + Recommend effective pricing strategies for all lending programs to ALCO.

    + Prepare all required reports for the EVP, CEO, ALCO, Finance Committee, and the Board of Directors.

    + Promote and foster cross-departmental and cross-divisional planning, coordination, communication, and support.

    + Provide executive leadership to ensure that the division’s management team receives development and training aligned with FPCU’s leadership philosophy and succession planning needs.

    + Set performance expectations and development goals for the division’s management team. Monitor progress, provide coaching and developmental support, and plan compensation and rewards that recognize achievement.

    + Establish service standards by department, including Net Promoter Score metrics, and monitor ongoing performance.

    + Oversee operations to ensure adherence to all policies and procedures, enabling efficient workflow and preventing negative financial trends.

    EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

    + Bachelor’s degree (BA) or equivalent from an accredited college or university required; Master’s degree preferred. A minimum of 10 years of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

    + At least 10 years of experience in the financial services or credit union industry.

    + Minimum of 7 years of direct experience in lending operations.

    + Minimum of 5 years in a senior or executive leadership role.

    + Minimum of 5 years of experience in consumer and commercial lending.

    + Minimum of 5 years of experience in business lending and servicing.

    + Strong knowledge of credit review, loan scoring principles, and methodologies for evaluating loan portfolio performance and asset quality.

    + Working knowledge of loan participations, purchase agreements, and secondary market investment programs.

    + Ability to read, analyze, and interpret legal documents, government regulations, financial reports, and industry publications. Skilled in preparing and presenting reports and responding to inquiries from senior management, attorneys, vendors, regulatory agencies, and the general public.

    + Excellent organizational and time management skills. Proven ability to lead, supervise, and train teams using positive leadership techniques to drive productivity. Strong delegation and planning abilities.

    + Advanced mathematical skills, including the ability to calculate interest, commissions, ratios, and percentages. Proficient in balancing accounts, identifying mathematical errors, and interpreting bar graphs and financial data.

    + Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, etc.), with the ability to quickly learn and adapt to new software systems as needed.

    CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS :

    + Business Lending Certification preferred.

    + Real Estate Broker License preferred.

    + NMLS License preferred.

     

    The pay range for this position is listed above. Our pay ranges are designed to allow for candidates with various levels of experience and skill to be considered, and to allow room for growth to be achieved in a role over time. Generally, new hire salary offers fall within the minimum to midpoint of a pay range for many candidates. Any offer extended to a candidate will be based upon their individual combination of experience, knowledge, skills, and education as well as internal equity.
