CAH-CFHC - Phlebotomist/Medical Assistant – Full Time-Day Shift- 7a-5p; various hours within this time frame–Req 8574

Pay Range: $17.45-$22.25*

Medical Assistant: The work involves taking vital signs of patients presenting for appointments at the CAH Ancillary Clinics under the direct supervision of the physician. This position also involves a variety of systematized clerical tasks. It will require specific program knowledge and the application of judgment and discretion in selecting a course of action. Position will assist the Practice Manager with assignments, reports and record processing.

Requirements:

+ Medical Terminology.

+ Current CPR Certification

+ Basic Nursing skills required.

+ Typing 40 wpm.

+ Data processing, clerical and computer experience required.

+ Leadership Qualities and ability and willingness to assume decision making responsibilities required.

+ Interpersonal Communication skills a must.

+ Ability to perform quickly and accurately under pressure.

+ 10. Must possess the ability to interact and communicate effectively with various patient age groups, primarily in the adult level.

Phlebotomist: Receives outpatient specimens for laboratory analysis. Accurately transcribes orders from physician prescriptions to laboratory requisition. Obtains patient blood from outpatients (all ages). Assist in testing and other lab tests as deemed appropriate and within their scope of practice. Assists technicians and technologists in running/processing specimen testing. Answers the telephone and gives reports, schedules tests and directs calls to proper location as needed. Maintains safety regulations and cleanliness standards within the section. Follows hospital and laboratory policies. Maintain point of care (POC) compliance across all clinic labs and track staff competencies, and other pertinent tracking reports. Performs all other duties and responsibilities as necessary. Qualifications

+ 6 months experience in medical reception highly preferred and will be prioritized when scheduling interviews

+ 6 months of venipuncture experience required and will be prioritized when scheduling interviews (volunteer experience will be considered, certification in phlebotomy preferred but not required)

+ Must possess knowledge of age specific needs and growth and development requirements for the infant through geriatric age population served as is relevant to Laboratory procedures.

+ Possession of strong organizational skills.

+ Excellent verbal and written communication skills, interpersonal skills required.

+ Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.

+ Must be able to work with an established team

+ Ability to maintain confidentiality is a must.
