Job Description
This position exists to serve students and staff of the Nursing Assistant, Practical Nursing, and Associate Degree Nursing Programs on the Brainerd and Staples campuses. The Nursing Lab Assistant will set up and provide for the required lab supplies and equipment as directed by the nursing faculty for nursing labs. The Nursing Lab Assistant will provide for utilization of simulation technology that provides students a safe environment to practice basic and advanced nursing skills and develop professional and ethical behaviors necessary for student nurses to acquire upon graduation from Central Lakes College nursing programs. The Nursing Lab Assistant is responsible for the daily operation of state-of-the-art nursing simulation labs and is the OSHA coordinator for the Central Lakes College nursing department. The Nursing Lab Assistant will assist in recording and submitting clinical student schedules, verifying submission of student credentials, and necessary records for student nurses to attend clinicals.
Salary Range:
$20.58-28.35 hourly; $42,971-59,195 annually
Minimum Qualifications
+ Post-secondary or industry certificate/degree/diploma or relevant licensure related to Licensed Practical Nurse, or
+ Six months of teaching/tutoring experience in Nursing at the high school level or above, or
+ Two years of work experience in Nursing where no degree/certificate/diploma/licensure is required, or
+ An equivalent combination of education and work experience.
Preferred Qualification
+ Current MN Licensed Practical Nursing License (LPN)
+ Current healthcare CPR Certificate.
+ Knowledge of college goals and Central Lakes College’s mission and vision.
+ Nursing knowledge sufficient to respond to questions raised by students.
+ Nursing knowledge sufficient in the performance of basic nursing psychomotor skills in the nursing lab.
+ Knowledge of nursing simulation lab equipment sufficient to orient others in proper use and to perform routine maintenance.
+ Knowledge of lab practices, techniques, and safety standards sufficient to determine the physical layout of a lab and to prepare various lab materials and experiments.
+ Ability to function independently to carry out assigned tasks and duties related to sterilization.
+ Ability to communicate effectively with others in a cooperative and respectful manner.
+ Previous experience with nursing simulation technology.
