    Job Description

    Our team is a global, collaborative group of engineers dedicated to advancing the innovative Steering product line for Commercial Vehicles. Based in Lafayette, Indiana, you will review customer requirements for UDS and J1939 diagnostics, define CAN and UDS specifications, and work closely with software teams to ensure smooth integration. Your expertise in CAN-FD and secure CAN, alongside your collaboration with security teams, will drive the development of next-gen diagnostic tools. You’ll also support hardware requirements, perform acceptance testing, and work with a matched pair engineer to provide local UDS support.

    What you can look forward to as a Systems Engineer - Diagnostics

    + Review of customer requirements for UDS and J1939 diagnostics and CAN

    + Definition of UDS and CAN requirements in textual form (Doors), includes Core and Application definitions

    + Creation of machine-readable CAN and UDS definitions in Vector CAN dbc format, Vector CANdela cdd or similar

    + Alignment with software teams on available diagnostic kernels and CAN stacks

    + Support of HW requirements per J1939 standards

    + Expert for CAN-FD and secure CAN in alignment with the security teams, includes definition of necessary CAN tools

    + Acceptance testing for UDS and J139 for selected deliveries and products

    + Specialization in J1939 and CAN requirements, alignment with matched pair engineer specializing in UDS to give local UDS support

    Your Profile as a Systems Engineer - Diagnostics

    + Bachelors degree in electrical, mechanical, or vehicle engineering or related technical field

    + Minimum of 5 years of experience working with CAN, ideally J1939 and CAN-FD

    + UDS ISO 14229 working experience, defining DTCs, DIDs, and services

    + Good tool knowledge in Vector CANdela and CANdb++ or similar

    + Ideally knowledge of CAN Stack development in e.g. Vector GEN-y
