    We are seeking a **Professional Wetland Scientist (NDEC Ecologist 3)** to join our Redmond, WA team! Come join us!

    Job responsibilities include but are not limited to:

    + Join our team as a lead contributor on some of the region’s most high-profile infrastructure and restoration projects. As a Professional Wetland Scientist, you’ll spend your time both in the field and at the desk, delineating wetlands in the foothills, drafting permit packages for Sound Transit and WSDOT, and helping guide projects through complex regulatory terrain.

    + You’ll take the lead on wetland investigations, prepare critical area reports and mitigation plans, and coordinate with agency staff to move projects forward. This role also gives you the opportunity to mentor junior scientists, refine QA/QC practices, and help shape how we deliver technical excellence on projects where environmental compliance is on the critical path.

    Minimum requirements:

    + Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Environmental Science, Ecology, Biology, or related field

    + PWS certification (or ability to obtain within 6 months)

    + 5+ years of experience delineating wetlands and writing technical reports

    + Familiarity with local, state, and federal regulatory frameworks (WAC, Corps 1987 Manual, Regional Supplements)

    Technical requirements:

    + Proficiency in wetland delineation methods, including identification of hydrology, soils, and vegetation indicators

    + Direct experience applying the USACE 1987 Wetland Delineation Manual and the Western Mountains, Valleys, and Coast Regional Supplement

    + Experience preparing critical area reports, JARPA applications, and mitigation plans

    + Strong GIS and map interpretation skills; proficient in GPS-based data collection and field documentation

    + Familiarity with Corps and Ecology permitting pathways, including SEPA/NEPA integration

    + Experience supporting ESA consultations and interdisciplinary environmental documentation is a plus

    Other miscellaneous qualities:

    + Confident field lead with experience mentoring junior staff

    + Clear, concise technical writer with attention to regulatory detail

    + Comfortable balancing multiple deadlines across projects

    + Strong communication skills for agency coordination and client interaction

    Compensation:

    $95,000 - $115,000 annually

     

    The expected salary range for the position is displayed in accordance with the state’s law. Final agreed upon compensation is based upon individual qualifications and experience.
