    Intellisense Systems, Inc., is a fast-growing Southern California technology innovator that solves tough mission-critical challenges for our customers in advanced military defense and homeland security markets by designing, developing, manufacturing, and distributing novel technology solutions for airborne, ground, and maritime applications.

     

    We are seeking an experienced and visionary Director of Transition to Production to lead the transition to production and production program management efforts for advanced military electronics, sensor systems, and rugged displays. This senior role requires a high-caliber leader capable of driving the successful transition of developed products from our product development departments into full rate production and sustainment for our customers, significantly contributing to the successful expansion of Intellisense’s product portfolio for years to come.

     

    The ideal candidate will possess a strong technical foundation, exceptional leadership qualities, and a proven track record in managing the full lifecycle of complex defense programs from conception, through qualification, and on to production and sustainment. This role will be instrumental in improving and optimizing Intellisense’s transition to production processes, working hand-in-hand with the Chief Engineer, Product Directors, and Production Management to streamline Intellisense’s production release process. This role requires strategic thinking, financial acumen, and the ability to lead large multi-disciplinary teams across the corporation to ensure a successful production transition for diverse products.

    Key Leadership Responsibilities:

    + Production Program Management: Establish, lead, and mentor a Production Program Management team to effectively manage the handoff of new products from Engineering into Operations and provide program management to production contracts.

    + Manufacturing Engineering Management: Establish, lead, and mentor a Manufacturing Engineering team to support DFX initiatives in support of product development and address manufacturability challenges and process improvements during production.

    + Customer Care Management: Lead the launch of Intellisense’s new customer care organization to oversee customer support for all released products. This includes establishing the support framework and processes to efficiently manage customer inquiries, technical issues, and follow-up in order to meet and exceed customer expectations during the sustainment phase of the product lifecycle.

    + Operational Excellence: Identify, monitor, and report out on key performance metrics with respect to product transition and production program execution monthly. Identify opportunities and solutions for improvement in these areas to foster a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.

    + Strategic Process Leadership: Develop and execute strategic production program management frameworks. Establish process consistency and standards for new product release to ensure seamless transition of new products to production.

    + Customer and Stakeholder Engagement: Represent production program management for key government and military customers, ensuring strong relationships and alignment with program objectives.

    + Product Sustainment Champion: Identify and partner on improvements to product design, manufacturing, and/or quality improvements based on analysis of quality data, product and customer issue trends, and customer feedback. Proactively manage part obsolescence for new and on-going production programs to stay ahead of potential production program impacts.

    + Production Scaling Initiatives: Champion initiatives that improve the production operations readiness for future growth in product lines and production volume. Apply Lean principles to eliminate waste and increase efficiency. Prepare production infrastructure, processes, tools now before production ramp-up occurs.

    + Production Business Capture: Lead production proposal efforts including preparing pricing with BOEs and writing portions of the technical and management volumes and completing associated compliance matrices.

    Production Program Management Core Responsibilities:

    + Create, implement, and refine production program schedules and budgets that align with operating department objectives and depict all project prerequisite activities, manufacturing operations, purchasing activities, and customer commitments as required per program Statement of Work (SOW) and production and sustainment plans.

    + Create a Tech Pull for ongoing NRE programs to Production.

    + Lead project related tasks and coordinate primary aspects of communication, including status update meetings, technical reports and presentations, and technology demonstrations.

    + Report back to management status on production projects regarding technical status, current budget (labor/nonlabor), and ETC/EACs.

    + Work with customers to ensure all requirements for all deliverables including their integration and fielding are understood and addressed.

    + Manage suppliers, subcontractors, consultants, and external production programs contributors to ensure successful and timely deliveries.

    + Conduct business travel for meetings and demonstration events, as needed.

    Manufacturing Engineering Core Responsibilities :

    + Partnering with the Chief Engineer and Product Managers, establish simple and efficient processes and gates to implement DFX into the product development process, including design for manufacturing (DFM), assembly (DFA), testing (DFT), and cost (DFC) to improve product manufacturability, quality, and reliability.

    + Provide Operations representation for DFX support to both internal and external stakeholders during the product development cycle including at critical program milestones such as SRR, PDR, CDR, TRR, PRR, FCA/PCA, and FAI

    + Support the creation and optimization of assembly and test instructions for production using digital tools (such as Aegis Factory Logix), focusing on simple and efficient instruction that maximizes quality, consistency, and repeatability, while minimizing rework, FOD, and cost.

    + Oversee root cause identification and issue resolution related to manufacturing issues, defects, or trends identified from Customer Care data and/or RMA data.

    Customer Care Core Responsibilities:

    + Establish and optimize customer-facing support operations to include customer support documentation, communications channels such as email, phone, and/or online support, trouble ticket tracking and management, and customer satisfaction data.

    + Implement, maintain, and optimize customer support workflow tools (e.g. ServiceCloud, Zoom Power Pack) to provide efficient and data-driven support operations.

    + Execute Contractor Logistics Support (CLS) efforts for key customers and product lines to include, but not limited to, preparing technical and cost volumes for CLS RFPs, planning and supporting logistics and staffing to meet CLS contractual requirements, and managing all aspects of CLS program requirements.

    + Define and maintain database of standard customer support documentation for each product line, in partnership with Product Managers, FAEs, and other stakeholders, that provides adequate instruction, reference, and training material for internal customer support representatives, as well as for externals customers.

    + Establish, maintain, and analyze key customer care metrics that provide insight and actionable data to understand efficiency and efficacy of customer care operations.

    + Maintain customer care operations budget to monitor expenses and optimize processes and tools for cost-conscious operation during ramp-up of the group.

    What You’ll Bring:

    + Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering or related technical discipline; advanced business or management qualifications (e.g., MBA) preferred.

    + Minimum of 10 years of experience in a leadership role within program management or product development, specifically in the defense industry.

    + Demonstrated experience in leading the transition of complex electro-mechanical systems from development to production.

    + Strong familiarity with government and military contracting processes, compliance requirements, and quality standards.

    + PMP certification a plus

    + Lean Six Sigma or similar certification a plus.

    + U.S. Citizenship is required.

    + Must be willing and able to obtain a Security Clearance or have an active Secret Security Clearance.

    + The ability to effectively plan, define, establish, communicate, monitor, and control scope to ensure that all work required, and only the work required, is performed.

    + The ability to contribute high-quality writing related to technical and product overviews, as well as customer sustaining activities for customer facing materials, reports, and proposals.

    + Strong organizational and time-management skills to maintain a clear schedule picture of multiple projects simultaneously and to carefully track detailed contract requirements.

    + Knowledge and execution of a variety of proposal and contract types (FFP, CPFF).

    + Experience in design of aircraft products, installation, integration, DO178C, and DO254 is a plus.

    + Experience with Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

    + Experience in MS Project, Visio, DOORS preferred.
