What you'll do Under limited supervision by the Director Finance Practitioner Services the Senior Financial Analyst Medical Group is responsible for the planning and supervision for the Finance Hospital and Physician Services Department. Critical thinking is essential in order to provide support and direction to the Bassett Medical Group, patient services, and hospital services around the financial impacts of proposed operational and programmatic changes. Supports the institutional budget process, monthly and yearly statistical/financial closing process and pricing sensitivity review, including but not limited to, development of metrics, in-depth analysis of financial data and implementation of new or revised reporting mechanisms. Ensures the financial integrity for a variety of duties associated with the maintenance and accuracy of detailed accounts of the hospital. Coordinates the accurate and timely completion of proforma’s insuring delivery to the Corporate Vice President of Finance-CFO and Vice President, Finance prior to full review by the Executive Operations Team. (EOT). Is responsible for using the Business Intelligence tool, in conjunction with Finance leadership, to develop metrics and implement change based on outcomes. Recommends and provides direction with respect to objectives, strategies and tactics for financial operations to Bassett Medical Center based on analytic review Develops and recommends systems for the department utilizing the most current software in order to maximize efficiencies Develops objectives, strategies and tactics associated with the annual work plan for the Finance Division Monitors and makes recommendations on departmental structure, operating procedures and staffing to meet the financial needs of the organization and the network Ensures strong financial controls are in place to ensure financial viability and integrity Disseminates timely and effective communication with departmental and divisional staff to keep them aware of important corporate, divisional and departmental information and to receive information and highlights from them Follows up on all issues and concerns in an effective and timely manner Supervises others within the department and develops agreed upon standards of performance in order to appraise performance and provide direction with respect to departmental responsibilities. Conducts on-time performance appraisals Develop, implement and follow written procedures that appropriately provide operational oversight to ensure the financial integrity of the various financial and adjunct systems Presents data in various forums to various individuals and groups with confidence, professionalism and forthrightness in a communication style appropriate to the situation. Is a source of information and understanding for all leaders within the network Supports the development of staff by developing goals and cultivating individual talents and monitors divisional staff’s current and future educational needs Develops and maintains job descriptions and performance appraisal forms for each position within the department Works effectively with other divisions, affiliates and various outside agencies to ensure operational and organizational issues are being addressed Is self-reliant, accomplishing goals through independent investigation, self-motivation and analytical problem-solving skills In conjunction with various departments and divisions throughout the organization implements system change (business analytics, pro-forma development, systems review, etc.) to provide operational efficiency and effectiveness Participates in the development and maintenance of administrative policies for the corporation with respect to financial operations Monitors performance against annual departmental operating plans and recommends corrective actions where appropriate Ensures departmental staff is following policies and procedures of the organization Ensures departmental expenditures are within departmental budget Keeps staff focused and ensures that they are consistent with in the application of policies and procedures Assists various divisional and departmental leaders throughout the organization with financial analysis and financial decision support As a power user of the Business Intelligence tool, develops financial and operational metrics for various divisional leaders to use throughout the Bassett Network. Implements change based on outcomes from those metrics Monitors the evaluation, development and maintenance of control systems pertaining to financial management. Monitors the use of resources in accordance with plans and budgets providing reports to the Sr. Director Corporate Finance – Hospital and Physician Services to assist with control of financial resources Develop financial models and tracking systems that support financial analysis Helps identify the financial base necessary to support cost effective programs and service expansions Supports the development and completion of the institutional budget, including providing critical analysis for the divisions of Bassett Medical Group, Nursing Services and Patient Care Services to ensure all budgets are accurate, financially sound and timely Reviews, develops and implements financial systems to ensure better, cost effective and more efficient ways of performing the work Participate as an active member on Hospital Revenue Cycle initiatives. Including but not limited to, participating in the Hospitals Recovery Audit Contract Appeal Team (RAC). Attend all meetings and assist in the development databases for clinical analysis and potential appeals. Additionally, develop, create and implement Inpatient and Outpatient databases for clinical analyses that will help prevent future RAC denials Review, develop, create and implement new financial systems, including but not limited to General Ledger, Budget, Business Intelligence, Financial Reporting, and Patient Financial Systems. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Pay Range Minimum: USD $79,539.20/Yr. Pay Range Maximum: USD $120,369.60/Yr.
