    Department Details

     

    Join our specialized GI practice working Monday - Friday (4 days a week) from 08:30 pm-5pm with no weekends or holidays.

     

    The GI clinic is located within our own building, the Center for Digestive Health, and our team works closely with providers, nursing, and patient access staff. We are looking for a motivated nurse to work with our great team of nurses and experienced clinicians.

    Job specific duties:

    * Triages GI referrals in the clinic

    * Performs chart review to facilitate appropriate follow-up with the healthcare team.

    * Responds to/refers incoming patient treatment-related phone calls.

    * Communicates with GI clinicians and seeks out recommendations

    * Assists patient with performing Fibroscans.

    * Educates patients about different GI diagnosis and explain the clinical management of the condition.

    Job Summary

    Answers patient inquiries over the telephone, assessing the severity of the patient's symptoms and medical needs according to triage algorithms. Guides the patient to the appropriate level of care; schedules patient appointments over the phone with appropriate healthcare providers/facilities/physicians. Documents information provided to patients during triage in health record systems; records patients health conditions for follow-up patient care. Maintains and develops triage protocols; ensures patients' healthcare information is updated on time. Role does answer inquiries through multiple variations of technology, depending on department. Educate patients based on calls that come in.

    Qualifications

    Graduate from an accredited nursing program preferred, including, but not limited to, American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN), Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN), and National League for Nursing Commission for Nursing Education Accreditation (NLN CNEA). Bachelor’s Degree in nursing preferred.

     

    One year of healthcare experience preferred.

     

    Currently holds an unencumbered RN license with the State Board of Nursing where the practice of nursing is occurring and/or possess multistate licensure if in a Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) state. Nurses performing nursing practice over the telephone require licensure in the states where the patients being served reside. Within first 30 days of employment, all requirements to obtain license needed for role is completed. Obtains and subsequently maintains required department specific competencies and certifications.
