    Position Overview

    The Medical Flexibles Production Manager is responsible and accountable for the function, processes, efficiency, and effectiveness of the Films Converting and Medical Tubing departments. The Production Manager will be intricate in the planning, directing and coordination of staff related process improvements, initiatives, and capital projects within a plastics manufacturing environment. The ideal leader will have plastics manufacturing or extrusion expertise, with a strong knowledge of polymer processing. They would also have experience with the multilayer extrusion of LLDPE, LDPE HDPE, HMWHDPE and PVC resins. Essential responsibilities include provide direct supervision and direction of the Tubing and Converting teams; plan and communicate specific objectives to ensure departmental goals are met; communicate equipment disruptions daily with various stakeholders in the operation; ensure that department personnel are properly trained and motivated; promote and enforce company business practices and policies; and promote and enforce company safety policies.

     

    Essential Job Functions

     

    + Work safely, following all safety policies and proactively participating in the safe work of others and the safety of the overall environment. Be a leading example of adherence to all internal safety procedures and policies to keep a clean and organized work area in a fast-paced, 24/7 plastic manufacturing environment.

    + Forecast and budget operating costs of the Tubing and Converting department and manage all department expenses to remain within budgeted amounts.

    + Manage people with consistent policy enforcement (safety, quality, attendance, discipline, procedures, and productivity).

    + Drive and be accountable for business metrics (safety, quality, production requirements, cost control, and employee engagement).

    + Work with Scheduling and Customer Service teams to establish work plans.

    + Implement and sustain Lean Manufacturing principles to drive continuous improvement initiatives.

    + Understands, follow, and enforce all established safety, health, quality GMP and Company policies, procedures, and recognized practices.

    + Works with Supervisors to oversee all Tubing and Converting department personnel, including hiring, training, performance reviews, recognition, disciplinary issues, attendance, and retention.

    + Implement cost effective systems of control over capital, operating expenditures, manpower, wages, and salaries.

    + Maintain quality standards to ensure customer specifications are achieved and acceptable First Pass Yield (FPY) while minimizing scrap and rework.

    + Ensures cost effective inventory levels of production supplies are maintained to meet production requirements.

    + Coordinates with the Maintenance Manager on the preventative maintenance required for the operational equipment ensuring minimum disruption to operations.

    Qualifications

    + 3 -5 years of management and or leadership experience

    + Proficient in problem solving.

    + Plastics Manufacturing experience a plus.

    + Computer skills, MS office, MS Project, Excel,

    + Demonstrated ability to work independently.

    + Experience in establishing effective proactive and reactive maintenance response practices.

    + Ability to maintain regular, predictable, and punctual attendance.

    + Computer usage and typing skills are essential.

    + Excellent verbal and written communication, including the ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers.

    + Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary customer service.

    + Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices.

    + Collaborates well with others proactively contributes to group objectives; volunteers to help others.

     

    Other Skills/Abilities

     

    + Ability to speak Spanish a plus.
