    THE POSITION

    The Department of Transportation is seeking a talented individual to fill the position of Highway Equipment Manager 2. This role involves managing the comprehensive highway equipment program for Engineering District 9-0.     DESCRIPTION OF WORK

    In this position, you will oversee the management of purchasing, maintenance, and repair activities related to automotive and highway maintenance equipment within the Engineering District. Your role is crucial in supporting all county organizations with equipment management, focusing on aspects such as procurement, utilization, scheduling, budgeting, repair costs, and training. You will be responsible for managing the district's equipment inventory, ensuring an appropriate fleet size, balancing the age of the fleet with repair expenses and available funds for new acquisitions, and optimizing equipment usage. Additionally, you will provide leadership and guidance to County Equipment Managers to ensure adherence to established policies, programs, procedures, and standards. You will also develop, update, and monitor key performance measures for essential equipment activities, make purchasing recommendations to the Assistant District Engineer for Maintenance, and approve and oversee the procurement of equipment repair parts.

    Work Schedule and Additional Information:

    + Full-time employment

    + Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.

    + Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, up to 3 days a week. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Hollidaysburg.

    + This position may be eligible for alternate work schedule (AWS)

    REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

    QUALIFICATIONS

    Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

    + One year of experience as a Highway Equipment Manager 1 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration);or

    + Three years of experience in the repair and maintenance of gasoline and diesel engines and other components of heavy highway maintenance and construction vehicles and equipment including two years of such experience in a supervisory or administrative capacity; or

    + An equivalent combination of experience and training.

    Conditions of Employment:

    + This position requires possession of a valid Pennsylvania Class A Commercial Driver's License which is not under suspension with Air Brake restriction removed.

    + This position requires one year of experience or training in the repair or maintenance of diesel engines.

    + This position requires possession of a valid Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Inspection Mechanic Certification "Class 7" by end of Probationary period.

    + This position will require Tank (N) and HAZMAT (H) or Tank/HAZMAT (X) endorsements by end of Probationary period.

    + This position will require Incidental Use (IU) certification for all fleet equipment to be obtained after hiring.
