Primary Function/General Purpose of Position
The Clinical Decision Support Analyst is responsible for providing accurate, relevant data and analysis to the Roper St. Francis staff and Board Members, using a variety of applications, formats and methodologies.
Essential Job Functions
+ Generate and analyze clinical data reports using a variety of computer systems and verify reliability and validity of data analysis.
+ Instruct members of the health care team regarding clinical and financial issues resulting from the analysts’ generated reports.
+ Act as consultant for colleagues and other clinicians.
+ Present and disperse data/ reports generated.
+ Participate in PI activities for the department’s quality initiatives.
+ Serve on system wide committees as member/analyst/consultant

Licensing/Certification
+ Professional certification required within 6 months of hire
Education
+ Bachelors Degree in healthcare, information technology, or related field, or a Registered Nurse licensed in the State of South Carolina (required)
+ Experience in process improvement principals and/or CPHQ certification (preferred)
Work Experience
+ One-year experience in the healthcare field and one-year experience in operating a computer system (required)
Experience with Excel, pivot tables, data analytics and reporting needed.

Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served on his or her assigned unit.
Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development of the life span and possesses the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interprets the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his or her age, specific needs and to provide the care needed as described in departmental policies and procedures.

Working Conditions/Physical Requirements
Frequent sitting. Frequently requires long periods of working at a computer. Intermittent walking, standing, stooping, bending. May require lifting or moving items up to 25 lbs. Frequent use of finger/hand dexterity. Constant talking or hearing. Corrected hearing and vision to normal range. No exposure to blood, body fluids or tissue. Possible exposure to infectious materials, communicable diseases and/or other conditions common to a healthcare environment. Normal office environment. Requires work under stressful conditions, deadlines, and/or irregular hours. Ability to read and comprehend. Travel may be required.
Skills
Hard/Tech/Clinical Skills _:_
+ Proficient use of computer software, including but not limited to word processing, spreadsheets, relational databases, graphics packages, statistical programs, clinical/decision support applications.
+ Ability to read, comprehend and use technical literature and operator instructions.
+ Ability to access, calculate, analyze and interpret data.
+ Able to create reports and communicate effectively with staff, management, physicians and fellow workers.
Soft/Interpersonal Skills:
+ Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
+ Must maintain strict confidentiality of sensitive information.
