Job Description

* Team operates as Regional Design team -- large team sharing projects across the Pacific Northwest

* Prepares complicated truss design and layout drawings - layout drawings may include beams and metal connectors sized and supplied by the company

* Develops layout and design drawings from architectural drawings or sketches provided to the company

* Makes phone calls to building designers or professionals to obtain or clarify information shown

* Draws rough sketches or arranges for finished drawings or photographs to illustrate specified materials or assembly sequence

* Prepare truss repair drawings for review and approval by a professional engineer

* Writes technical descriptions specifying material qualities and properties

* Will be trained on material for Wood Truss Council Level 1-3 certifications -- Company will cover the cost of the exam (not required but encouraged)

* Junior candidates will be provided extensive online and in-person training, will partner w/ an experienced designer -- Will train on software, truss math, blue print reading, etc.

(More experienced Designers)

* Reviews and checks layout and design drawings prepared by less experienced truss technicians and assists in making modifications prior to release

* May obtain information pertaining to products that have been field modified or damaged - information is summarized and given to a professional engineer to evaluate and complete repair drawings when required

* Analyzes technical data and reports to determine if design meets specifications

* Understands the building code and applies knowledge of special truss industry issues

* Analyzes plans and diagrams, or observes and makes notes on material processing, to determine material processing specifications or specifications for construction activities

Salaries range from $65,000 - $80,000 depending on experience.

Skills and Requirements

5+ years recent truss design experience

Design work in MiTek Structure (SE) with current or most recent role(s)

Fluent in floor and roof design

Strong Experience with custom residential home design Technical degree or higher

MiTek truss designer with component or product design experience

Experience with California design work (California Hips)

Multifamily design experience null
