    Our team owns Alexa's proactive experiences, where we are building cutting-edge solutions powered by LLMs to deliver relevant and timely content (e.g. notifications, suggestions) to Alexa customers. We own a strategic platform that delivers a tremendous amount of notifications to millions of Alexa customers every month.

     

    The primary focus of these roles is to design and develop LLM-based solutions that can proactively deliver the most relevant and important content to our customers. This involves leveraging advanced natural language processing techniques and machine learning algorithms to understand user preferences, context, and intent.     As a Software Development Manager you will be working with talented scientists, engineers, across the breadth of Alexa org to innovate on behalf of our customers. If you're fired up about being part of a dynamic, driven team, then this is your moment to join us on this exciting journey!

     

    Key job responsibilities

     

    - Define and drive the strategic roadmap for the Alexa proactive experiences (GENIE) team, aligning with business objectives and technical requirements.

     

    - Be the Single Point of Contact between Alexa Proactive Experience team and domains (Alexa Shopping, AGI-Info etc), Alexa Devices and Alexa Mobile teams.

     

    - Manage the end-to-end program lifecycle, including planning, scheduling, risk management, and stakeholder communication.

     

    - Manage a team of Individual Contributors (SDEs, QA engineers).

     

    - Collaborate closely with engineering teams, product managers, and stakeholders to gather requirements, prioritize initiatives, and ensure successful program execution.

     

    - Identify and mitigate risks, dependencies, and bottlenecks; escalate issues and drive resolution as needed.

     

    - Develop detailed project plans, track progress against milestones, and provide regular status updates to leadership and cross-functional teams.

     

    - Facilitate decision-making processes, driving alignment and consensus across various teams and stakeholders.

     

    - Continuously improve processes, tools, and methodologies to enhance program delivery efficiency and quality.

    Basic Qualifications

    - 3+ years of engineering team management experience

     

    - 7+ years of working directly within engineering teams experience

     

    - 3+ years of designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience

     

    - 8+ years of leading the definition and development of multi tier web services experience

     

    - Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations

     

    - Experience partnering with product or program management teams

    Preferred Qualifications

    - Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy

     

    - Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills, and make them more effective, product software engineers

    Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $166,400/year in our lowest geographic market up to $287,700/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
