Job Title: Travel Fitter/Fabricator

_$140 in daily Per Diem_

Job Description

Working in the fabrication shop for nuclear submarines and aircraft carriers. The Fitter/Fabricator is responsible for laying out, fitting, aligning, and assembling prefabricated cast and forged components before welding, soldering, brazing, or bonding operations. The role involves performing fitting and machining operations such as straightening, grinding, burring, drilling, reaming, and countersinking materials to close tolerances. The candidate will refer to general instructions to select equipment, set up, and lay out materials to be welded. Additionally, the role may include repairing or reworking parts to restore required tolerances, distorted due to welding operations, and monitoring quality in accordance with statistical process or other control procedures.

Responsibilities

+ Lay out, fit, align, and assemble prefabricated cast and forged components prior to welding, soldering, brazing, or bonding operations.

+ Perform fitting and machining operations such as straighten, grind, burr, drill, ream, and countersink materials to close tolerances.

+ Refer to general instructions to select equipment, set up, and lay out materials to be welded.

+ Repair or rework parts to restore required tolerances that have become distorted due to welding operations.

+ Monitor and verify quality in accordance with statistical process or other control procedures.

Essential Skills

+ Proficiency in reading blueprints and performing measurements.

+ Experience in drilling, tapping, brazing, and grinding.

+ Ability to perform fitting and machining operations with precision.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of Goose Creek, South Carolina.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $27.08 - $44.18/hr.
