    Wastewater Shift Supervisor

     

    The Ocean County Utilities Authority, a public wastewater treatment facility consisting of three treatment plants and 40 pumping stations, is presently seeking a Shift Supervisor in the Operations Department. The position is located in Bayville, NJ.

     

    The Shift Supervisor performs hands-on work, has supervisory responsibilities and assists the Plant Operator in the operation and upkeep of the treatment facility.

    Key Accountabilities include:

    -Supervise an operating shift and carry out the directions of the Plant Operator to maintain proper operation and upkeep of the treatment facilities within a division. Supervise Operators, Operator Trainees, Utility Workers and other assigned personnel. Keep the Plant Operator advised of personnel matters.

     

    -Assist the Plant Operator in preparation of reports required by State and federal regulatory agencies and advise the Plant Operator of malfunctioning equipment requiring repairs.

     

    -Keep necessary logs, data sheets and records as required as well as ensuring proper shift coverage. They are responsible for monitoring the general security and normal operating condition of the plant site on a 24/7 basis and be available for emergencies on a 24-hour basis. The Shift Supervisor will participate in emergency planning and preparedness.

    Required Education:

    -High School Diploma or equivalent.

     

    -Completed and passed the Advanced Wastewater Course.

    Preferred Education:

    -Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, biology or environmental science.

    Required Work Experience:

    -Two (2) years of shift experience in the operation of plant and pump station equipment or wastewater facility of similar design with a strong ability to manage and direct staff.

     

    -Must be familiar with State and Federal requirements pertaining to wastewater treatment and reporting.

    Required Skills and Abilities:

    -Strong supervisory and leadership skills, sufficient computer skills to utilize the Authority’s Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS), Electronic Data Management System (EDMS), Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) and network system.

    Required Licenses and Certifications:

    -Must possess and maintain a New Jersey Public Wastewater Operator Class S-4 License or actively pursuing and be thoroughly familiar with all State and federal requirements pertaining to wastewater treatment and reporting

     

    -Valid New Jersey driver license

     

    This position has a 4-week rotating shift. First Shift (11:00pm-7:30am), Second Shift (7:00am-3:30pm) and Third Shift (3:00pm-11:30pm).
