The employee in this position is responsible for performing skilled mechanical work in the maintenance, operation and repair of heating and power equipment and other mechanical systems in assigned buildings on the St. Paul Capitol Complex. The employee will:
+ Make minor repairs and adjustments to pneumatic controls and associated equipment.
+ Make minor repairs to plumbing, heating, cooling and air conditioning equipment.
+ Maintain and operate fan systems, heating/cooling pump equipment, replace filters and belts, etc.
+ Test and treat heating/cooling systems water supply.
+ Replace light bulbs, make minor repairs to buildings and hardware.
+ Perform general building maintenance.
+ The employee must respond to callback during off-duty hours.
Minimum Qualifications
+ First Class C Engineer's License
+ Valid Class D Driver's License with acceptable driving record
Preferred Qualifications
+ Broad plant maintenance experience involving repair of heating and ventilating equipment as a major focus.
+ Experience with minor repair to heating and ventilating equipment or minor electrical repairs
+ Coursework in steam engineering maintenance or repair (e.g., welding, plumbing, electricity, steam engineering, boiler operation, air conditioning, refrigeration, and steamfitting)
Physical Requirements
Must be able to climb and work from ladders, scaffolding, personnel lifts, and boom trucks; lift and carry heavy loads for short distances; may be asked to work in confined spaces and outside in all weather conditions; and must be able to lift in excess. of 50 lbs. occasionally.
A pre-employment physical (Work simulation equivalent minimum is medium, example: able to lift 22-30 LBS frequently).
