    Responsibilities

    THE POSITION:Under the supervision of the Shift Supervisor or Team Lead, provides technical support in the automation areas; observes all safety rules and conducts assigned duties in a safe manner.

    EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:

    + Follows all Company policies regarding safety, quality and attendance. Performs duties in a safe manner and reports all observed safety hazards to the Shift Supervisor or other management personnel. Leads by example and maintains a safe environment for self and co-workers.

    + Maintains packaging levels on all equipment in the automation areas; orders packaging as necessary based on Traveler (BOM) to verify that the correct packaging and supplies are used and returns unused packaging to warehouse following established procedures.

    + Completes all product changes and sets up new products on all automated equipment.

    + Logs a variety of production Finished Goods (FG) data and inputs into automated tracking system as needed.

    + Maintains a neat and orderly work area; meets or exceeds plant and department housekeeping standards. To maintain a clean and orderly work place, Automation Technicians may be assigned additional housekeeping responsibilities throughout the plant as needed.

    + Properly packages finished goods to include correct use of labels, outers and pallet patterns. Responsible for verifying, executing and proper packaging of all finished goods to achieve the best cosmetic presentation possible, as well as stretch wrapping pallets, printing and applying labels on finished goods.

    + Responsible for reporting any preventive maintenance (PM’s) needed on all automated equipment including: conveyor systems, case packers, robotic palletizing system, Stretch wrappers, labeler and all such equipment as may be added/changed in the automation area.

    + Participates in employee driven teams to address scrap, quality, safety or other production related issues.

    + May conduct pre-shift meeting with employees to provide information on production, quality, safety, policy issues.

    + Other duties may be assigned, as needed.

    Qualifications

    + Ability to organize and prioritize work activities and to handle multiple projects simultaneously.

    + Must be able to use computers for a variety of input and/or printing labels as needed.

    + Must have mechanical aptitude and skills to work and perform minor repairs to automation equipment.

    + Must have previous manufacturing experience.

    + Ability to read, and interpret procedure manuals, specification sheets and other product documentation. Ability to write simple reports and instructions.

    + Identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner; Gathers and analyzes information skillfully; Develops alternative solutions; Works well in group problem solving situations.
