Function of Position:

The Science and Technology Entry Program (STEP) is seeking responsible and enthusiastic individuals to join our team as part-time Advisors. Under the supervision of the STEP Director, Advisors play a key role in fostering the academic, personal, and career development of middle and high school students. This position offers a meaningful opportunity for those committed to advancing education, youth development, and increasing access to STEM, health-related, and licensed professions.

*This is a temporary, grant funded position.

Examples of Duties & Responsibilities:

+ Recruitment and onboarding of program participants

+ Provide assistance and support with events at the College and assigned partner school(s)

+ Travel with and chaperone STEP students on field trips, conferences, and college tours

+ Serve as a role model, encouraging positive behavior, personal responsibilities, and academic excellence

+ Support STEP students in developing skills in time management, study strategies, and college/career readiness

+ Develop and maintain professional relationships with students, staff, and school administration

+ Participate in training sessions and staff meetings

+ Assist with other projects as assigned

Job Requirements:

Required Qualifications:

+ Earned High School Diploma

+ Must be currently enrolled in an accredited college or university

+ Ability to work collaboratively with staff and students

+ Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Preferred Qualifications:

+ Previous experience working with middle and/or high school students, especially in educational or mentorship settings

+ Experience with technology and social media

+ Bilingual and able to read, write, and speak Spanish, or other languages, proficiently

Additional Information:

Salary: This position has an hourly rate of $23.
